I would think that the 2 Quarter Finals will be standalone fixtures given they are both on Sat week. Assuming Tipp and Dublin come through the Preliminaries I would think Tipp\Galway in Limerick and Clare\Dublin in Thurles. Would be the logical central venues for supporters. Can't see any going to Cork.

Makes sense! In fact, I can see both preliminary games as. Double header in Thurles or Limerick. There will be resentment from GAA diehards in Cork, about turning stadium over to rugby, but the demand is there. Munster's captain Peter O' Mahony relishes the idea of playing more games in the Pairc…. Filling it will not be an issue!

They are sensible options. But, the Cork GAA debt on Páirc Uí Chaoimh is 'well above €30 million'.
I think the GAA Central Council will give them 1 game to help them out. But, this could cause uproar .

I think Portlaoise would be a better venue for Clare v Dublin, capacity is 18k I don't they'd draw that much to Thurles on a Saturday afternoon or evening.

I would be very interested to see how many big matches that ref from the Munster final on Sunday gets from now on after that last sequence of play.

If they are going to destroy John Keenan for a great performance last year in the same match then................

He gave Clare everything up till then. That should be looked at also.

Portlaoise might be too far for the Clare supporters. They don't like to go too far! I'm not sure of the following Dublin hurlers have, so having both games as a double header in Limerick makes sense, although Clare will make sure that the crowd will not be permitted to come onto pitch!

Tipp and Galway in Cork might get 20,000 tops as it would be hard to call. Clare v Dublin - taking into account that Dublin would bring no more than 2.3,000 tops and most Clare supporters and neutrals not give us a chance in hell - be lucky to break 7/8,000. A double header would easily get a crowd of 30k+ given easier access for all concerned.

He should do alright as his performance during the game was OK. He doesn't have much competition, as his peers James Owens and Richard Gough probably attracted more controversy!

The fact is Carlow beat Offaly twice. They are the only unbeaten team left in the championship."
Spot on

It wasn't just the last sequence of play, he was very harsh on Limerick in the first off even though Clare are upset over 1 particular incident. In the first half Conlon barged into Gillanes chest similar to the late incident with Kelly and Casey and Clare got the free while O'Donnell got a free off Nash for an imagined Jersey pull.3 Clare defenders fouled Hegarty in the space of about 5 seconds and Hegarty got booked. It seemed to me he referred the match and incidents on players previous reputation like booking Hegarty because 'he always causes trouble' or Gillane because he fooled ref in Cork match or Kelly because he dived v Cork.

Just checked, from Ennis Portlaoise is only 10 mins further than Thurles, Cork is 30 mins further and that's before you get into the traffic issues of PUC.

Dublin away day championship support be 2/3,000 these days, although we would have gotten twice that for games in the halycon days of Anthony era.

One double header, 2012?, the year we beat Limerick and Waterford beat Galway in Thurles, the place was more or less full. Not going to get that this year but certainly top 30,000 I'd have thought?

Replying To CARPS:  "They may be slowly getting back, but Carlow beat them twice in the past month.

Again, no offense to Offaly, but all known form suggests this will be a rather one-sided game.

I do hope it's not.

Carlow and Dublin has the potential for an upset. Especially given Carlow are the only undefeated team left in the championship."
It must be hard for Carlow to stomach, seeing teams already qualified for the quarter and semi-finals, who have all lost at least once.

Who else? What are the six starting forwards likely to be v Offaly and then presumably Galway?

Sure, if we lose on Sunday, we demand a back door play off with the All Ireland winners. The morning after that game. At, say, 9am?
