Hard enough for offaly with such a young team than have to try beat 16 men. You can rugby tackle a lad now and not get a yellow?? tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 04/06/2023 16:15:38 2483942 Link 0 |
Hope Offaly manage to get back to compete at the very top..it's an awful thing to say but I feel they'll need to get a more cynical side to their game..can't get over the size of that cork under 20 side. CTGAA10 (Limerick) - Posts: 2510 - 04/06/2023 16:37:05 2483949 Link 0 |
I agree Cork were very lucky to avoid a straight red for the penalty. Should have been a red and not given. I'm loving all the comments about Cork being cynical though. For years the whole country's has being saying that Cork hurlers are too nice and now when they are cynical ye can't stand it. Every team that ever wins any All Ireland is cynical. Look at KK for years under Cody and Limerick now as prime examples. Of course it's not nice to see but sometime it is needed. 5th All Ireland final in 6 years and 3rd win in 4, great to see Cork underage finally clicking into gear. Tiobraid I could not open the link ( okay sorry maybe just me ) and if viewed express an opinion and no inhibitions of calling it out. You on the other hand are in denial about Breen walking up behind Bennett and kicking him. Your b.s. about it was a minor tap shows your denial. As regards Gleeson I have not defended him when he deserved to be sent off for his nastiness. I have defended him when he gives someone a fair shoulder and the guy falls because of Gleeson's strength. There would be a lot of players off when Frank Cummins played if that was the case. Ask poor Mossy Walsh. He could hurl with the best but Frank would slaughter him with good hits. I have not seen one poster on here who denies that provocation exists. It is how you choose to react and have to live with the consequences. Incidentally I don't have nightmares about anything. Good luck for the rest year and remember one piece of nastiness does not make a player or county dirty players. True of Tipp and Waterford and everyone else. Limerick players are an example. If they look sided ways at someone they are labelled. I did say non of the incidents with us were red cards. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 3044 - 04/06/2023 17:44:44 2483977 Link 1 |
Fully agree with you.

I agree with most of that too but it wasn't really the cynical part that annoyed me. They targeted Offaly's younger players for rough treatment. Downey didn't seem to have much interest in hurling and then you had one lad tapping Screeney on the head. Anyway, well done to both games and well done to the GAA for having no Liam Mv games this weekend and letting these teams have the limelight. A feast of hurling this weekend tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 04/06/2023 20:52:26 2484033 Link 1 |
Some of Corks Defenders in recent years are as tough as any. This too nice argument is BS. The simple fact is that for a number of years they have not been good enough, plain and simple and their Croke Park record over the past ten or fifteen years bears this out. They now appear to be on the cusp of a very successful era. When that comes, it will be because they will be good enough and will have nothing to do with any perceived cynicism. The suggestion that other counties only win All Irelands just because of cynicism is beyond risible.

Awww. Guess you were disappointed with the result. 8 or 9 of Cork team will still be underage next year. Should have great joust with Clare in Under 20. Future is looking up for the Rebels

You're making things up Oldtourman, read my post again. I never once said that other counties only win All Ireland's because of cynicism. I also never said that a lack of cynicism was the sole reason why Cork weren't winning. Cork fans are well aware that they haven't been good enough to win an All Ireland in the last 15 years (2013 aside). When we eventually win it'll be because we have the best team, nothing more. The too nice argument is a narrative many people including the majority of Sunday Game pundits believe. Your fellow Limerick man, Dowling being an example. Johnathan Glynn and Austin Gleeson are just two example of players that have scored goals vs Cork in championship that the KK Cody or a Limerick Kiely team would never have left in. Offaly were a small bit naive and should have stopped Mullins before he got his goal. Going back even further, the Tipp Corner Forward (Corbett?) in last years minor final made Tipperary's comeback possible by cynically preventing a certain goal. He was sent off but Tipperary ended up winning the match and there is no doubt he did the right thing. You are a decent poster but please take time to properly read what I say in my posts. It's 9 days now since the end of the Leinster and Munster Championships, but still we don't know where the preliminary quarter-finals between Dublin v Carlow and Tipp v Offaly will be played. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2774 - 06/06/2023 21:15:21 2484562 Link 0 |

Aren't they always home games for the Joe Mac teams?

Of course, I forgot. But, if you look at the upcoming fixtures on here, it says TBC, TBC, for venues and dates. Even the GAA website says TBD, though it does give the venues, but no dates and times

They dont care about the games. The same way they dont care enough to promote the Joe Mac properly and give them the same AI final day as the Liam Mc. This token gesture of playing in a prelim q final is BS
