These guys start out fine but after awhile begin to smell themselves. Tyrell on about red carding and suspending guys. May be he is right but Jakie Tyrell ? The saint has more notches on his belt that all the players together new playing.

Every county has its fair share but yes Waterford seem to get hit year in year out with key players. It's been a rotten 12 months too with Tipp some of lads still to come back next year will hopefully make Tipp a stronger panel.

I played rugby for 15 years at school and university and there wasn't any niggly stuff. Very occasional pucks thrown and a few contact injuries but nothing dirty.

Waterford have a big panel as has Tipp but Tipp currently has 7/8 players missing. You play with what you have. You'll be missing ither next year most likely. There'll be a bounce from Waterford yet and they'll certainly be gunning for Tipp tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 09/05/2023 11:24:53 2476972 Link 0 |

In fairness to him he did point out that he was probably worse than what is happening now. No probably about it but at least he is standing up and taking responsibility for it. The culture in Kk hurling at the time welcomed that sort of behaviour. All you have to do is read any of their former players books and it is highlighted throughout. The Gaa has a terrible record when it comes to discipline always has and always will. There is no appetite for change.

Tyrell did admit that he was guilty of what he was now condemning.

Just one simple question. If Jakie could roll back time and line out today would he be advocating the same ? Hypocrisy now from behind a megaphone. You are correct it is the responsibility of the administrators to clean up the rules not the commentators.

Looking to the weekend I think Waterford could trouble clare. I think it very much depends on what the spirit is like in the camp. If the spirit is good they match up well in a lot of areas. Gleeson will man mark TK. Aussie needs to go to 6 and they need to spring Calum Lyons into the midfield and a more attacking role. I think iarlaith daly is very close to a return and he would be a nice match up v Rodgers. Prunty will take whoever comes into the square. I think the 2 Fitzgeralds need to start alongside dessie and Bennett. There is pace all over the team. Davy is being paid to get the most out of these guys and after the draw in cork last weekend they're back in the championship. I see this close if they're up for it. Clare even with the 2 week break won't be the same as they were v Limerick as its such a rivalry now its hard to see them get to that pitch again so I think they might be a bit vulnerable for me daveboy (Limerick) - Posts: 1198 - 09/05/2023 14:48:23 2477041 Link 0 |

I went into read next weekends fixtures...I just have came away from it, the Lord bless us and his blessed mother but you could not keep up with them, one fixture piled on top of another, there are more serious games being played underage on a Monday and Tuesday than some of the fixtures "for fixtures sake" almost up between all the competitions..if you are lucky to take a big scalp in your specified competition, dont go celebrating a rare win as you are out in the next round within a week....the system is a complete joke now if you ask me... I'm sure they will I'd like to get the job done against Limerick I don't fancy taking on Davy and his Waterford in the final game. Regardless of where they are and something in the air tells me they could suprise Clare and open the whole thing up.

And release the players back to the clubs between games? I think you will find that's easier to post on HS than achieve in the real world Barney!!!!

Well, August can be made a month in which there are no club games which is more or less the case anyway. In any event, how many counties are left in the championship by August Or the end of June for that matter!

I remember the point being made in August last year that every county championship bar the football championships in Mayo, Tyrone and Fermanagh were in full swing so honestly don't know where your getting this from.

The old system may not have been perfect, but people are getting carried away with amateurs playing a professional set of fixtures, shocks now are still rare but even when they do happen the winning team is out again playing 7 days later almost and normal business is restored almost, no time to savour the win and celebrate for a few weeks like before..Sean Cavanagh said the truth about loads of meaningless games in ways..look we know they won't revert back to the old system but this lark of microwaving games into 10 or 11 weeks and then sitting with nothing only club games until next December isn't on, Co. Finals are still same October dates in most counties.. ..club set up is grand but problem is only one team can win the county final, many teams are idle long before that being eliminated way earlier..this thing that clubs are all flat out during the club championship isn't correct, only the top and successful clubs are, many are idle for a long time..currently too many games piled one on top of the other..I used to be a great man for statistics but its a joke at this stage..
