Replying To Viking66:  "Didn't realise Jack Redmond was also still under 20. That means 6 of the best front 6 from last year are all u20 again? Hopefully they all stay injury free! Darragh Carley looked good last year, Schokman hopefully will step up to be a regular starter this year. He's got good height too. Looking forward to getting to see them out on the pitch. I know Keith Rossiter was fairly busy looking at lads who did well for their clubs but didn't play minor intercounty hurling also."
Rossiter done well in developing a panel last year which would be unusual for an underage team, in the Leinster final we brought Tucker Kinsella, Josh Shiel, David Codd, JJ Twamley and Liam Cassin on as subs, they were probably as accomplished players as some of those who started.

Replying To Throughthemidfieldhewasstormin:  "Sure look it was the same for most teams. Galway lost Tiernan Killeen, Gavin Lee and Greg Thomas to that rule too, Limerick lost Cathal O'Neil, probably the stand out player at this age atm, so I don't know how much we can read in to Oisin Peppers loss when others had similar if not greater losses. It's a stupid rule especially when all those lads mentioned missed out on an underage year they'll never get back and didn't really play that much hurling for their senior sides in comparison."
The only county that had no senior player missing was Kilkenny

We have 6 forwards who started at least one u20 championship game last year still on the u20 panel. Pepper, O Hagan, Byrne Dunbar, Twalmey, Redmond and Cian Byrne. Plus of the younger fellas Purcell, The 2 Roches, Murphy, and Cillian Byrne plus any others he unearths that didn't play minor hurling also.....I think Rossiter is doing an excellent job tbh.

Yeah think it was them Tipp and Dublin, the rule doesn't apply to teams competing in grades below Liam McCarthy so Offaly had lads playing both.

If there picking from a full hand probably play some lads further out, Pepper and Cillian Byrne have played midfield and Luke Murphy has played in backs and midfield too.

I'd imagine Derry Mahon or Regan Tracy will be in goal.
Backs still u20 from last year include Liam Schokman, Connor Foley and Darragh Carley who could play midfield either. Others coming up include Robbie Hillis, Cian O'Tuama and Darragh Kehoe who started at minor in 2020. Although Cian O Tuama is still only 18. And maybe Keith Rossiter has unearthed some other good lads at the back who didn't play minor.

Wow that is great news - and probably explains why Cian Byrne hasn't been playing senior. A very reliable free taker

That was the definition of a clickbait headline, there basically managing his minutes and hamstring issue through the league, priority and rightly so that's he's ready for championship, I suspect last Sunday he could have played on if required,

Tbh I'd rather not see him ROC or MOH at all during the League if it means they can play a full championship

Absolutely Viking. Better to get that hamstring problem sorted out as much as possible. Each game he's played so far this year he has had a recurrence of his leg issues. Maybe not playing at all until the round Robin starts. He's too important to our chances later on.
The same should apply to Rory and O' Hanlon.
Giving more gametime to Banville, Carty, Herne, Clarke and Conor Foley would increase their confidence hugely.
Perhaps sticking with Fanning between the sticks would be the best choice. I know view's will be divided on this but he seems to be playing well recently.

Personally I'd play Lawlor against Clare and give him and Fanning 1 game each in the Cork and Limerick games, that way I think both would have got 4 runs over Walsh Cup and League, Fanning has reacted well the last 2 games to give him credit.

Still not sure about Fanning though apart from the Offaly game there haven't been any clangers I can think of. Apart from that I agree 100% with the rest of your points.

Wondering what is people's opinion on Galway joining Leinster at minor level? Kinda mixed about it myself

I'd be in favour of it, current scenario makes no sense, a big problem in life in general is people looking after their own self interests rather than seeing the bigger picture.

Why not as they are in at every other level?
