Poor result for us on Saturday in Carrick. We lacked any kind of intensity and players looked lost.

Carlow, Westmeath (a neighbour of Cavan) and Offaly are hardly on the other side of the globe pal... Travel costs not an issue here if we're being honest

Carlow isn't any shorter of a commute for Westmeath to travel than Cavan, Leitrim, Sligo or Fermanagh

Waterford going to Cavan! I accept your point of preferring a nationwide open draw. It's also understandable that the GAA took the geographical sections approach for the early rounds. For a new tournament, they felt it was the best approach.
Leitrim and Sligo don't often battle in knockout with a realistic chance of silverware. It should be interesting.

Then maybe, at a push, split the first round only. But there is absolutely no reason to split these quarter finals when there's longer distance in some of splits. Cavan are a neighbour of Westmeath, and Leitrim not far from Westmeath either, but they're in a different geographic region? Come off it

It's a shame the Ulster teams weren't kept apart. Cavan and Fermanagh meeting again. Two of the favourites. Sure Leitrim and Sligo seen enough of eachother too

Yeah I could not get over how unorganised and disinterested in 1st half Antrim were.. if they took some more chances and kept 15 on the pitch for longer ye might have stolen it but it would have been daylight robbery, Leitrim better team by a mile and look to have put the Galway result behind them. This competition is our level and deserves the buy in from all counties entered in it so that it does not go the way of the Tommy Murphy

There was no logic to the split in this particular competition. Parts of Leitrim you'd be in Westmeath within half an hour. And then why was Longford not in the other side of the draw. Shambles.

They are wasting their time….they couldn't even get a crowd to go to the Leinster Final…and nobody in their right mind would pay into see the sort of dire rubbish served up in the Ulster Final yesterday…. County football is in a very bad place at the moment and the penny has dropped with people now that it's not worth watching…. Attendance figures have plummeted in the last 8/10 years

You're right. I hope the man that is rumoured to be coming in does get the job because as a lowly resourced county we need to extract the very best out of the players available. We need the players fully focused on performing in the league and the Tailteann and sadly we looked to have no structure or game plan at the weekend.

Congratulations Carlow footballers. You caused an upset yesterday, and have Westmeath at home the next day. Will you pull off another win against the odds?

Their intention seems to be to have a few local rivalries prior to the semi-finals in Croke Park. That part has come together for them in fairness. 1 Ulster, 1 Connaught and 2 Leinster teams, barring a New York shock, will be travelling to Croke Park for the semi-finals. It gives the semi-finals a more national profile.

My predictions are Leitrim, Fermanagh, Carlow and Offaly to make the semi-finals.

I think Leitrim, Fermanagh, Offaly and Westmeath will make up the semi final. The winner will be Fermanagh.

Fair play to Offaly on their semi-final qualification. It'll be interesting to see who joins them in Croke Park on this day fortnight, live on RTÉ television!

Sligo won on penalties!
Offaly relegated from Division 2 and Westmeath 3rd in Division 3 won't be making the Tailteann Cup easy for anyone. Sligo then have come through extra time twice!! The second time being today's penalty shootout!
