Watching the 2 Munster games. Both look very 1 sided at the moment and it's not even half time yet. Doesn't look like we will get the same drama as last night.

How utterly disappointing Waterford are. What has gone wrong?

Clare 2nd string superb in the first half. Waterford desperately bad. Look like they have no confidence

Sure wasn't the fine Babs the man who laid the foundations in 1979, for what Cyril Farrell inherited in 1980!

Without Michael Keating's sterling contribution, I doubt that Galway would have won any AI at all in the 1980's.

So, kneel down in front of the altar of the Babs.

Replying To preddan:  "Congratulations to kilkenny on the u20 win, but this year's u20 championship has to be the worst ever, all crammed in too quick, no all Ireland semis, its like it was a nuisance to the GAA with its fixture schedule, it needs to be revised as soon as possible"
I'd agree. Today's final summed it up well. Not to be harsh on the players, but it was a fairly poor spectacle. A lot of mistakes, poor first touch, misplaced passes and bad options taken.
Maybe it was the occasion that got to them, but only the fact that it was tight kept it interesting.
I've seen both teams in earlier games and they performed much better.

Clare absolutely superb.

Waterford look to have thrown in the towel.

Clare proving we are more than a one trick pony. Great belief in this group.

They certainly didn't look like a team fighting for survival. They were shambolic and Clare unleashed hell on them.

Thank god for the u20 final lads. Better than the 2 challenge games I just spent a couple of hours watching. Absolutely brutal hurling after the media hyping it up. Supposed to be 3 teams fighting for their championship lives and Clare resting players for a dead rubber. But Clare were the only team that looked like they wanted to play proper intense hurling. Cork won another handy game and are qualified now for the AI series purely because they were the least bad of 3 terrible teams.
I know the history of the Munster Championship and how much it means to the supporters to win one, and I also know that some Munster counties are ahead of most or all of the Leinster counties, as is shown by the makeup of recent AI semis and finals, but the entertainment is gone. Every year there are 1 or 2, or 3 this year, counties way below the standard of the rest. Whatever about their record in the AI series at least the Leinster counties give it their best shot, play proper hurling not exhibition or challenge match stuff, and we have drama and excitement all the way through. There has been debate that maybe the Leinster Championship should be brought back to 5 or even 4 counties. That's not good for the development of hurling countrywide though.
Munster should let Kerry back in. They would hardly have done any worse than Tipp or Waterford this year. I think Clare and Limerick are deserving favourites for the AI this year but the other 3 counties ruined this year's Munster Championship.

Despite the hype, there are serious problems with the round-robin championship system. The finalists decided before today's final round of fixtures in Munster, and two very one-sided games today.
Add in the fact that there were three very one-sided finals in the lower tiers yesterday….

Hard to believe Waterford are gone.. would really like to have seen them push on.

I think teams got cute to this goal threat that waterford were trying to build up and when those big numbers didn't come plan b (shooting from distance) just wasn't there

In Munster for 3 teams to qualify out of five is a bit much.I mean if Tipp had beaten Cork today by 6 points they would have qualified after 3 losses.Likewise If Kilkenny lose Leinster final they will have 3 losses and could still win the All Ireland. Its not though out very well in my opinion.

And become the 1st outside Manager to get Galway to the All Ireland Final!
Every All Ireland Senior Hurling Final Galway played in had Galwaymen in charge."
In 1979 Babs Keating (Tipperary) was in charge of Galway when they got to All Ireland final to play KIlkenny

I dont get why any sport is so eager to eliminate teams! We are 2 weeks away from the June bank holiday weekend and teams like Waterford, Tipp and Dublin are done for the year. We only started the competition a few weeks ago!
The Round Robin is extremely unforgiven. Man City have had periods during the season where they under performed for a couple of weeks. Our lads are finished if they go through the same!
I'd love a league of 10 teams with the top 2 going into the All-Ireland semi finals and teams 3-6 going into play-offs for the other 2 semi final spots. relegation in place. Run the provincials as knockouts in parallel to the league Championship. This is a format similar to what's used in nearly every team sport in the world. You never hear supporters give out about it.

Finals are there to be won. All 3 winners will go up to the next level where they obviously belong if they won one sided games. Agree the Munster round robin was disappointing. Only really competitive close good quality game was Limerick v Clare in Ennis.

What about the club championships Ban? Looking forward to ours already. The lads have been training hard for them the last few months.
