Ref in the Cork game was even worse, gave Waterford everything! Setanta11 (Louth) - Posts: 45 - 15/05/2022 19:04:06 2417340Link 0
Ya but Tipp, Cork and Waterford would be on one win each so head to head wouldn't count in that unlikely scenario. Unfortunately for Tipp, Clare won today which means it's unlikely we see conlon, kelly, etc togged out against Waterford. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 15/05/2022 19:04:46 2417341Link 0
Haha Hurler of the year is a team award really. If you think cian is better than Tony then i think you would find that the neutrals would disagree LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2697 - 15/05/2022 19:08:12 2417343Link 2
When they showed the incident from behind the goal you could see how the umpires might have thought that there had been a dirty stroke. Hard for officials to make judgements when lads are diving. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3781 - 15/05/2022 19:08:46 2417344Link 0
Disagree. Ref in first game drove me mad but I thought Lyons really let the game flow and contributing to a great game. Cusack spoke sense about the Hegarty incident. No need to give the ref a decision to make. First yellow was a joke no doubt but that makes the second one even sillier - why do it when on a yellow. The man always has a confused look on his face after he swung the hurley. It may still likely be appealed as the first one was a joke - I think red cards can accumulate so it may be worth appealing tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 15/05/2022 19:09:21 2417345Link 0

Hegarty let the hurl fly back in the direction of the player. Considering the manly contest we had today, this was a sly and cowardly act, regardless of how much it lands on the opponent, there's intent and could have been a red. Hegarty is a slow learner when it comes to conduct. On the flip side, I thought some of his play today was immense. Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1479 - 15/05/2022 19:36:15 2417366Link 2
But then there was a linesman right in front of the incident, I don't envy referees but the diving is common practise now and its an absolute scourge. Something drastic needs to be done to take a hold of it. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 2557 - 15/05/2022 19:53:16 2417375Link 1
2 games in a row now where Clare fellas clearly dived to get an oppositionplayer sent off, obviously something Lohan is teaching them. Terrible to see it and embarrassing for the county of Clare and hurling. updwell (Limerick) - Posts: 913 - 15/05/2022 20:04:41 2417383Link 6

Limerick are in a nice scenario after their round Robin series. In a munster final where they've shown signs of where they need to be. Getting lads back fit and minutes was key last few weeks. Cian will be back soon as with Peter casey and Barry Murphy to inject that bit more into it. daveboy (Limerick) - Posts: 1198 - 15/05/2022 20:04:48 2417385Link 0 |
No point in arguing about two fine wines! Set up for a great Munster final. From a Limerick point of view I think it was a great result all things considered. Now gives them an edge going into the final. I feel sorry for Hegarty as now his apparent reputation precedes him. Not alone was it not a sending off, the Clare lad should get a ban for blatant simulation. No doubt The Sunday Game will focus on Hegarty's record and probably still harp on about, as they have done more than once, the Joe Canning tap way back when, which was nothing only bad timing. Time for better help for referees instead of relying on 2 blind mice from 50 yards away to make the right call. Shocs07 (Limerick) - Posts: 374 - 15/05/2022 20:19:38 2417389Link 3
I know. Linesman looked as though he wasn't convinced but obviously told Lyons he hadn't seen anything. There was no reaction from crowd which itself is good indication that he was acting the maggot. It is a disgrace and it should be teams themselves that are cracking down on it. Some ref is going to have to grasp the nettle and start handing out cards for this sort of carry on. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3781 - 15/05/2022 20:38:43 2417398Link 1
Did you see the incident slowed down. No contact with the player. Just his hurley. It was the dive that got him sent off. And condemnation of that? Limerick2018 (Limerick) - Posts: 83 - 15/05/2022 20:41:09 2417402Link 4

Considering the manly contest we had today. Your words. Now any comment on the player diving in such a manly contest? Limerick2018 (Limerick) - Posts: 83 - 15/05/2022 20:42:59 2417405Link 2

Nearly as bad as the constant throwing the ball and strangling players with spare hands and getting away with it time and time again! ZUL10 (Clare) - Posts: 708 - 15/05/2022 20:59:29 2417411Link 0
Well done exactly the point. Don't give the referee a decision to make. Regardless of Aaron's actions, Hergarty swing the Hurley at him. It's was a stupid move I genuinely think the red card had no relevance to the results though LohansRedHelmet (Clare) - Posts: 2697 - 15/05/2022 21:04:08 2417415Link 0
