Noticeable a few of the teams who know tomorrow is there last league outing a going with close enough to a championship 15, Galway, Clare and Tipp spring to mind although Tipp have a very minor chance of the semi final.

If after this weekend the League final turns out to be an all Munster or all Leinster affair , it should be postponed until a few weeks after the All Ireland hurling final , or else have the provincial round robin clash between the teams doubled up as a League Final decider. It is of no value to anyone to watch 2 teams lining up against each other in the slowest of slow bicycle races.

Hopefully for the sake of the competition there will be one winner per province this weekend. I am going for a Kilkenny vs Waterford final.

Not sure that will be the case at all at this stage. There might well be fringe players given starts but they are going to be hurling their hearts out to push onto the starting team at Easter.

The league format won't change regardless of the final pairing

Yes we all know that. What I'm saying is it should since the final will be a farce if 2 teams from the same province play in it. Where 2 counties from the same province qualify, maybe the thing to do would be for the managers to play their forwards as backs and their backs as forwards, maybe play their normal keeper at full forward or something! That way they could give a good go at winning it without revealing their hand! May as well treat it as a farce since it will be one anyway.

How come Cork gets a home game for the league semi and nobody else does?

They have a home and away arrangement with Kilkenny where they take turns

It wont be a farce. Not with national Silverware up for grabs and places on the championship team too for fringe players to play for. Lot of years since any of the 4 teams won a national title outright. 26 for us. 17 for Cork.

Offaly have hit 8 wides in the first quarter against Antrim. Not much chance of winning if they keep that up

Lot of work to do in Offaly still. Antrim looked a good bit ahead of them all over the pitch. Suppose leaving aside their last league game when they rested nearly their entire team they didnt look out of place in division 1 in any of their games.

Antrim looked like they had another bit in them too. Entertaining enough game.

Offaly lack physical presence, and deficit in skills, passing, ball control.

Very enjoyable game. Cork really wanted that win and deserved it in the end keeping a lot of Kk big guns quiet.

I've no idea how Joyce didn't get man of the match though. He was exceptional.

Corks no. 3 isnt a championship standard fullback.

He won't be full back..I'd agree on Joyce,outstanding..however fitzgibbon scores 1-3 from midfield..lehane went very well..Horgan and Kingston did nothing from play so plenty room for them to improve..also keeper may let them down, thought he should haves stopped second goal..im wondering now does kingston know his best 15??sh sure we,ll travel to cork and fulfil the fixture-and see how we get on..

Kerry losses to Westmeath twice and Down doesn't bode well for improving on being McDonagh finalists without promotion. Offaly (1A), Antrim (1A) and Down (2A finalists) will be battling for the McDonagh final places. Kerry, Carlow and Meath will be seeking to retain their McDonagh status.
BTW: Derry and Kildare are unlucky to be outside the McDonagh bracket. It's down to teams seeded 10 to 20 to seek a fairer calibration there.

The Macdonagh cup has already been extended from five to six teams.
Each team gets five competitive matches. If more teams were put in it gets diluted.
Great game tonight between Cork and Kilkenny. Cork looked fitter at the end but Kilkenny still have TJ to bring back so won't be worried.

And Cashman and Cahallane have been destroyed too often in the past, when the the heat was on. Still the team as a whole are improving and that old Cork swagger is back. They always have fine hurlers, a great tradition and of course a massive pick.

It also hard to argue against a man, who scored 1-3 from midfield and whose strong running troubled KK all night. Like Conor O'Donovan, Darragh is another Limerick man, who in this case would now have three All Ireland Medals, if he stayed at home.
