Well lads any predictions for the weekend ahead? I fancy Cork being as they are at home which counts for alot in the League and Tipp although I think Laois will have a right good go, in the Saturday games. I fancy Limerick to beat us, Galway to beat Offaly in Salthill, Kilkenny to beat Antrim, and Dublin, who I think can beat Waterford in Parnell Park. Cork, Wexford wins and an Offaly draw might be a bet

Cork are hard to predict especially in the league. I'll go for a draw in that one. I think Offally will give Galway plemntyof it and wouldnt be surprised if the won but I'll go with Galway to shade it. Hard to see Limerick not beating everyone but its the first round of the league so anything can happen. Wexford looked realtively impressive against KK from the clips I s seen but not sure where they stand right now. Some new and fresh blood and a decent league campaign will be their main goal early on and I think they will be competitive at the least but winning a league might not be top of their list. I think Tipp had a good run out against Wexford recently and so we hopefully will get past Laois. Dublin and Waterord could be the game of the round. Dublin seem to be really motoring well but I'm not convinced that a few games changes my opinion on Matty Kennys tactics but I hope I'm very wrong. I'm expecting a lot from Waterford this year but the first round of the league will mean little in terms of the result I would think. I'll go for a draw here too.

I hope your right but I'll be shocked if your right, wins for Kilkenny, Dublin, Tipp, Limerick, Cork and Galway for me. Big game in 2A between Westmeath and Kerry, them 2 and Carlow probably promotion candidates, I'll fancy Westmeath with home advantage and Kilmoyley playing on Saturday Kerry might be short a few players. bostonredsox (Wexford) - Posts: 4368 - 01/02/2022 16:02:46 2397758 Link 0 |

On paper it looks like Limerick will have too much for Wexford. However their pride is injured and I expect a back lash from them. A lot depends on the confidence Wexford players have in the new management structures. Too soon to be drawing conclusions. The games will be typical winter hurling and some close enough. I don't expect a win for us and could get blown away with so many of the panel out. However Cahill expects anyone given the jersey to perform if they entertain any chance of getting to play. If Offaly put it up to Galway Henry will be under pressure as soon as it is. Believe me Offaly are get back their swagger and the rest look out as they will start to eek out results. Depends on each teams circumstances. With Ballygunners county players tied up in the club championship I reckon Dublin will beat Waterford by a few points. Similarly Antrim to run Kilkenny relatively close. Galway probably will be experimenting but may have a few Thomas's players back...or maybe not. I still fancy them to win by 6 or 7 points. Cork to beat Clare. Limerick to beat Wexford. PoolSturgeon (Galway) - Posts: 2152 - 01/02/2022 21:43:55 2397836 Link 0 |

im not so sure john kiely will have a strong team out.......kielys main aim will be to win 3 in a row and with the round robin back he'll be trying to build a strong panel....im guessing 6 or 7 of the first 15 will start so this could be closer than many think.

Thanks. Will be handy to know how many boxes of Kleenex to bring to the Park! Joking aside we are going to have a very experimental team out I'd be guessing. We have at least 6 championship starters out injured including our 2 best forwards. And many more of our best players played poorly against Dublin on top of that. I know it was only a January game in the Walsh Cup so hopefully we will do better at the basics on Sunday. Those 2 most important team players called Workrate and Hurling seemed to miss the team bus the last day out.

Its difficult to know who Liam Cahill will pick to play on Sunday. Four of the panel played with WIT last night. The Daly's also involved in this competition. That plus others and the Ballygunner players. It does give others a chance but these fixture overlaps waters down the league. If you are too weakened then that may impact you season's physic. Especially a county like Waterford who needs momentum to keep up there. I hear zero talk about Tadgh DeBurca. He is 18 months out. The same cruciate twice must be serious if not career ending. Pauric Mahony was hurling in 12 months. Dublin should capitalize. Especially going on their recent form. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 3249 - 03/02/2022 19:50:43 2398220 Link 0 |

Dublin have been cut from 5/2 on Saturday to 13/8 which is a more realistic price. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 4550 - 03/02/2022 21:52:16 2398241 Link 0 |

Waterford will have a much changed team I cant see Dublin not winning. Fennelly has a good head start on Shefflin as regards system etc I'd imagine any new manager is going to experiment the 1st couple of league games and look at how players perform in a more important competition than the Walsh Cup. That and maybe try different set ups. I think Galway will shade it but there won't be 9 points in it.

An experimental Tipp team named. Laois could get a win in that one. I'd expect there to be only a point or two in it. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 04/02/2022 09:57:45 2398262 Link 1 |

Just read a preview of the Wexford Limerick game on Pundit Arena by a fella called Andrew Dempsey. He doesnt seem to know this is the 1st league game this year for either side and doesnt even know who else is in division 1a. Bizarre they got him to write the preview at all. Offaly hurlers are just back in Division 1, they are going to have some painful experiences, but they can learn from playing better teams. Their aim is Joe McDonagh this year.
