What a ridiculous comment..

Are you suggesting the system is giving Mayo more frees than other counties?

Ya fond of conspiracies by any chance?

Rewind the tape and come back to me.

I could rewind any and every tape since the dawn of GAA video footage and find soft frees. I could probably find dozens of soft frees from this weekend alone..

Since when is a soft free now synonymous with Mayo? Sure I just as easily say 'death, taxes, and Galway getting soft frees'? but I wouldn't...because that would be a ridiculous?

Result means as much as a chocolate teapot….still though Galway have the best forwards in Connacht on paper I hear so we might as well keep quiet

Galway's best forwards Comer and Walsh have injury problems and that must be a worry for them as the season starts. Apart from those two, Galway have no standout forward. Even though they lost last night, Dublin looked good .Still the team to beat come Summer. Theo Clancy will be a big addition at the back. Didn't Sean Bugler miss the Final last July through injury. He might be a big player for them this year.

Coming along nicely, was pleased enough with the stretch in the legs for this time of year, we might have a player in Theo Clancy.

Very encouraged with the likes of him and Breathnach coming through.

Leaving the paper aside, how did the Mayo forwards fare on grass last night?

Yes a good game littered with mistakes… I think Dublin (who should have won) will take more from defeat than Mayo will get from the win…. Dublin will get a whole lot better as the season goes on but I don't think Mayo are much better than we witnessed last night… Young Clancy will take over from Fitzsimons at FB…

They won the game and got the two points. We don't claim to have the best forwards but I think we do ok. That said it won't be enough later in the year. Mayo very lucky to get the win last night.

I think Mayo has the worst home field advantage in the country. I can't remember the last time we had a great game at MacHale Park.

Where is Diarmuid O Connor. You would think Mayo will need him soon enough. Cillian looks well off the pace and Aidan O Shea is starting but doesnt have 70 in him anymore. I thought Mayo were average and Dublin seems to have lost their cutting edge forward play but its early days. I assume Dessie is targeting the Leinster final to time their run while with Mayo surely to god if they win one more game McStay will experiment with panel as hard to see what another league win would be worth to Mayo. Fenton appears to be still the key man for Dublin but ye will need others to win another All-Ireland but who would bet against ye.

Diarmuid injured as far as I know. O Se not good enough in my opinion. Game passed him by. Maybe an impact sub from now on. Sadly I don't see any all Ireland in us. May make a semi final if lucky. One more win and absolutely we should take the foot off and blood the fringe players. Mayo have no business being in a league final when they fly out to NYC three days later.

As Brian Clough said. The match isn't played on paper. It's played on grass.

Sorry chief but you've lost me. Maybe you've responded to the wrong post? I never mentioned anything about frees, soft or otherwise. I Just commented that Mayo seemed happy and from a Dublin point of view I'd be happy with that for the 1st Sat in February. I responded to a post that mentioned it but I had no problem with it. And just for the record I don't think anyone in their right mind would complain about winning a couple of AI's with "soft frees", would you?

Onion I'd take winning an All Ireland with a blatant wrong free never mind a soft one, I think anyone would.

Been awarded a free in a scorable position in the dying minutes of an AIF and then losing it by giving lip to the ref....that's painful.
