Greg McEneany?

Spot on Avonali! The only man on that team that was quicker from a standing start was John McCarthy. I've been told that by good sources . Keaveny was unreal! Legend!

My Dad used to go down to Parnell Park to watch the 70's Dubs team training. This was before the era of behind closed doors etc. He always told us that Keaveny was one of the fastest on the squad. .

Many players of that build are very fast over 10 yards, and 10 yards is plenty to get out in front of your man.
Colin Corkery was another brilliant footballer who had a great burst of pace over a short distance, despite not looking the fittest.
Two pure footballers in every sense.
I've seen it regularly at club level too. Lads who aren't going to be doing the long runs up and down the pitch, but have the speed and ability to do damage inside.

He was as cute as a fox. Seanie O'Leary of Cork hurlers of same era was similar, Great positional sense and killer speed over short distance, Great men to score a goal.

I can vouch for that, I think he was the quickest over the first 10, if not, well up there! Marathons were not his thing :D

Na Fianna hammering Whitehall at half time. Will set it up nicely for last round of games. They have Vinnies who hopefully will beat Judes tomorrow to make it all down to last games and probably points difference.

Some unbelievable long range kicking, albeit with a breeze, from Cluxton's apprentice in goals! A 45 and a free from same distance and another hit post from 45. Good kick outs too.

Poor Eoin O'Donnell for Whitehall has become like the big lad in under 12s who nearly be put into any position in hurling or football. They are too reliant on the three Dublin seniors. Will be in battle to avoid dropping down again.

Ballymun back on track with win over Templeogue. Most likely beat Johns next day to go through with Boden. Could go down to points difference.

I doubt Brian Fenton will ever add a Dublin medal to his collection. They should have closed out the game against Davis. Lunny from Carlow scored 1 - 3 but apart from him they have the weakest forward line of any senior team in Dublin. Something you seldom see is inside forwards getting beaten by a pass to the end line. Happened several times today. They should certainly be capable of stopping the ball goind wide, whatever about putting it over the bar!

Comfortable enough win for Crokes after a messy enough goal when Castleknock were level inside last ten. Hard to see anyone beating them. Just getting into their stride. Castleknock most likely beat Syls in last game so should still get quarter final place.

Vinnies beaten well by Judes so will need to beat Lucan in last game. Cuala beat Lucan so they're gone. Cuala have to get something against Judes who are already through.

Got groups mixed up there, Davis and Raheny other teams in Cuala group. All three still with a chance of qualifying in top two. Cuala to play TD and if they win and Raheny beat Lucan - which I wouldn't bet on at all and they'll be fighting to avoid relegation at Raheny's expense - would be three way tie decided on points.

Vinnies last game is against Na Fianna so highly unlikely they'll go through. Whitehall won't beat Judes.

Whitehall over reliant on the 3 players alright. Not sure they are using EOD to best effect either tbh.
Was Sean Gannon back.? It looked like a serious injury the last day out.
Lee had to bring his brother to the hospital after that game, to get it checked out.

I think Judes could possibly give Crokes a rattle this year.

Great to see BK back on track - a couple of players had a bad game the first day out, but if they can play to their potential, they will be thereabouts. Of course the PS picking up that hammer injury early on, didnt help that day either.

Hard to know if Na Fianna can go as close again this year. Very disappointing in their opening game.

I don't think Seán played, They just don't have it at that level. I hope Donoghue is not considering using Eoin at full forward hurling for Dublin.

Ballymun will possibly make semi finals but no longer have the cutting edge up front, and PS be huge loss if out for rest.

I sincerely hope Judes do not win it as they have obviously taken the same path as Fianna years back in packing team with inter county lads. There are county lads on all of the contending teams and genuine reasons for them work related etc.

Na Fianna were atrocious the first day but have recovered, will qualify for play offs and will be main threat to Crokes if they continue to sharpen up. Cooper still not played a part. Crokes though are ahead of everyone and will be hard beaten both in Dublin and in All Ireland series.

I agree - Judes are not very popular atm alright.

As you say, same as Fianna did a few years back and Parnells to a lesser extent I suppose.

It would be great to see a new winner but as you say, Crokes are defo the team to beat.
Such a strong club in both codes, with massive numbers in the club.

Crokes and Na Fianna very impressive over the weekend. Two huge wins albeit against teams who are pretty weak, but both still not up to full strength either.

Both looking well coached too and very sharp in attack. Group placings will go down to last day although Lucan are assured of top spot in theirs and straight through to semi final. They are looking good although not as impressive up front. Charlie Carter has certainly brought something in on coaching side.

Lucan, Crokes, and Na Fianna for semi finals (although that could depend on last game as possibility Crokes and Fianna might meet in quarter finals. Boden probably best of the rest.

I reckon there might be a surprise in the last round of football this weekend.

Vinnies to beat Na Fianna, You heard it here first, and you may mock me if I am wrong :-)

Indeed. No way the Vinnies were going down to the almost neighbours today :-)

Na Fianna rested McHugh and Murchan. Well, how did that work out for them?

Mossie, although don't think he even scored, was sublime with two or three passes, one for the goal, that had Clifford made them you'd never hear the end of.

Old dogs, and tradition etc, etc...

Encouraging words from Dean Rock

I think he still has an awful lot to offer, great to have on the panel, and he'll swing over scores when required.

It's interesting, these comments off the back of his wedding attended of course by all the prominent leaders of the team, sounds like the lads were chatting, might have got the opportunity to get together and agreed amongst themselves to go again.

They have nothing to prove of course, but if they want to defend their hard earned title, then fair fecks

Quarter finals:

Boden v Castleknock = Boden

Crokes v Ballymun - Crokes

Raheny v Vincents - Vincents, although Raheny looked very impressive today albeit against a poor enough tam

Judes v Cuala - probably Judes, but Con and brother might have added a bit of spark to Cuala, hopefully.

Crokes significantly ahead of all of the others and good bet at 11/10.
