Of course Kerry wanted it badly and this one hurt. I posted a couple of years ago to Dublin posters than we they lose they will take it badly and be more hungry afterwards. Some did nt understand saying we happy with our lot! It does nt work like that. Winners are greedy. The more you win the harder you take a loss and the hunger becomes insatiable again. Some here probably can't understand the Dubs being over the moon with this one. I certainly do! You could see this win meant more to them than many others. Fair play to them!

That's a great haul from Ballymun K alright. I don't have figures but I know Austin Stacks club have the most senior all ireland football medals.I would say Ballymun up there well on the leader board now also.

I don't know if it still happens since the fans are banned from the field but I did see Jack Ó Connor going around to different Dublin players shaking their hands and congratulating them. I actually saw him run after one player to tap him on the shoulder to shake his hand as the player was heading for the presentation.

I know the dust has hardly settled but how many Dublin players are in with a serious shout for an All Star. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4229 - 02/08/2023 16:40:30 2498708 Link 0 |
Buffon of Italy has retired aged 45. Plenty of time yet for Stephen Cluxton . He's only 41. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2402 - 02/08/2023 16:59:17 2498713 Link 1 |

Agree with most. Mick Fitz James Mccarthy Brian Fenton more or less certs. Lee Gannon Cluxton have a great chance and one of Costello or Basquel will get one I'd say. I doubt Mannion as he did nt play enough but motm in a final might sway it.

Costello deserves one. James with POTY will automatically get one I think Fitzy deserves one. Fento has been top 2 in midfield all year. Clucko only conceded one (disputed) goal all year, his distribution was immaculate and he scored 2 pressure points in the AI final. Hard to see another keeper getting it. Mannion had a good year for sure. Good candidate Difficult to see where others will come from. Collie had 2 or 3 decent games. Lee has been good. Ciaran unusually quiet by his standards. They may get 5 or 6. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4743 - 03/08/2023 00:48:14 2498771 Link 3 |
I have a feeling Cormac will get one ahead on Collie tbh, even though Collie was the top scorer from play in the football championship. I know very debatable but I hope Jamesie gets POTY Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4229 - 03/08/2023 09:39:16 2498782 Link 0 |
Jack gets an unfair press. He is what you see, He obviously takes defeat badly and while he doesn't hide it i can't honestly say I've ever seen him do or say anything that might be construed as disrespectful of the opposition. Even his commiseration with Kilkenny last year was interpreted by some who know neither as some sort of insult. You can't win! I'm sure at the end of the day he hates being beaten by Dublin, just as Heffo hated being beaten by Kerry. It hurts, and it should, and it shows, I was listening to him doing an interview on RnaG a week or so before the match and he was clearly just as infused with the history and lore or the rivalry as anyone else. He's not going to be dancing around with a stupid smile on his face after losing one! BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3516 - 03/08/2023 09:39:56 2498783 Link 4 |
Agree Joxer it will be 5 or 6. If I was a betting man I would be on: Clucko Mick Fitz Jamesie Fento Cormac - (never got one before which I think could be a factor also tbh. They seem to balance things up a lot with their choices) with Mannion and Collie just missing out. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4229 - 03/08/2023 09:43:07 2498785 Link 0 |

The last few games he has been excellent - good shout there.. Missed the early part of the season travelling but when he got up to the pace of it again when he returned, he was really good for us. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4229 - 03/08/2023 10:52:47 2498805 Link 1 |
Biggest complement i could pay him, is he pulled of a Cian O'Sullivan year pal. Think he's like McCarthy around 2013, doesn't get the recognition he deserves. One of our best and absolute quality. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4516 - 03/08/2023 13:42:42 2498852 Link 4 |
Would like to see that from play stat if the "advanced mark" was taken out - that's not scoring from play in my book - even if its counted as.

From a Dublin pov, defo Con left 2 easy marks behind him on Sunday and should really have scored with that rocket that came back off the crossbar. He could have finished 2nd top scorer from play. To finish 3rd in that regard, after what I considered just an ok year, based on his standards, was pleasantly surprising. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4229 - 03/08/2023 15:44:43 2498903 Link 0 |
The mark is a bit of a joke.
