Amazing that the same lads who criticise me stating facts stay silent on the email to the journalists which is beyond embarrassing and shows exactly how corrupt the whole thing is. All about clinging on to power.

Great to see a detailed breakdown of the story by Cahir O Kane. Absolute clowns running the show.

Reading that piece in the Irish news today about the whole academy fiasco ... the part that's so annoying is that Jim Mcguinness would have been there in some capacity with Rory kavanagh, but also that he would have been available to Paddy Carr but nobody contacted him.

I see county league fixtures are out....no word on Reserve, which leads me to think that they will be going with regionalized leagues as proposed.

And also himself and Martin McHugh were willing to step in.

It's clear now that the County Final debacle was the straw that broke the camels back on Kavanaghs appointment. By that time he was sick and tired of dealing with the County Board. I've said before, there's no way that the linesman who caused the furore should have been appointed in the first place. He was there on the insistence of the former chairman. The trouble he caused is only starting to manifest themselves now.

Just read the Irish News article and the one phrase that springs to mind is "amateur hour".
To me it sounds like Lacey was trying to establish transparency and good governance practices but was met with obstruction. The reference to Paul McGonigle and his thoughts was enlightening too. When a qualified accountant is saying that Donegal GAA is "in a very poor place structurally, culturally and financially." and is then essentially ignored, alarm bells should be ringing.

It goes back to what I said before, when there are millions of Euros in play you simply cannot afford to be complacent. It needs to be managed by people with the right expertise. Perhaps even more importantly, there should be complete transparency as to how the finances are managed as well.

The whole thing is embarrassing really. Sounds as though a complete overhaul is needed but as to how/when that will happen who knows?

And 2 of the 3 people on the interview committee are now on Paddy Carr's backroom team. Maybe that is the reason they didn't want McGuinness as he wouldn't stand for that.

It would make you wonder why clubs didn't vote for McGonagle? If you are a club County Board delegate, do you want to hear criticism from a potential Chairman? Better to tell them they are all great fellas doing a wonderful job.

I think that McGonagles proposed reforms were maybe too radical sounding for some? Instead of facing the music and doing what needs doing it was easier to go for the safer status quo option in McGee (no offence intended to McGee who is obviously a good GAA man). It would be great if the local media were allowed to attend and report fully and without restriction at these meetings. A break down of the voting by each club would be a start? Maybe that info is available somewhere?

I know that today that we are all consumed with Cahair O'Kanes article, but I can't let the day pass without mentioning Laochra Gael last night. I was probably expecting a load of famous faces to be rolled out, to speak eloquently about the great man that Anthony was. But the production was very simple. And in the words of the poet from my school days "Beauty is truth, truth beauty, - that is all." And in listening to Anthony speak his truth, in his own understated way, his greatness was clear for all to see. A legend.

Club's did vote for Mc Gonagle. He won the majority of the votes through the club's but the executive then has votes to be added in to the equation which weighs more than the club votes ! Couldn't make it up. So the executive votes brought their man over the line despite the majority of clubs wanting MC Gonagle and his progressive vision. From my understanding Mc Gee is an honest man , maybe he's just being influenced by the wrong people.

to be fair only getting one side of the story. For all we know Karl Lacey could be at fault in some way. On the face of yes the CB certainly looks like they made mistakes. However Karl did go public to a local paper which probably ****** alot of people off.

Its a mess for Donegal and needs sorted. Karl not coming back and they have advertised for a new head of academy. Better getting a good appointment and moving on for everyone concerned. Could be a learning curve for new head coming in - make sure he knows exactly where he/she stands and the money side of it.
