Now that we're down to the knockout stages in the various championships does anyone know what the criteria is in terms of games finishing level after normal time? Is it extra time on the day and penalties? Or extra time and replay if the teams can't be separated?

Terrible that some teams already out of Championship and more next weekend, especially Senior Clubs and no Manager in place to see if there is any players showing up in Club games.

The hunt for the new manager is a real slow burner, very hard to know what is going on. It seems like Martin McHugh is favourite for the job despite ruling himself out. I would love to see a change in our style of football, even more so than winning. Why not take a more long term approach and try to change our style of football, more direct and attacking. We may lose some games along the way but long term this approach will pay off. We are regressing playing this defensive, hand passing and running game.

The club championship is heating up well, difficult to see past Eunans, Naomh Chonaill, Kilcar and Gweedore for the semi finals.

Two long term pundits and ex managers of other counties who felt they should have had a crack at managing their own counties long ago McStay and McHugh, could wee Martin be joining his fellow pundit soon as manager?
I think McHugh would try and get us playing more attacking football anyway, more of trying to win the game rather than trying not to lose which is how it seemed to me Bonner had us playing in lots of big games, that's just my viewpoint from a fans point of view, I'm no expert. I've no doubt Declan was trying to do the best he could and he had some great days as manager let us not forget,
Let's hope we get new management in place soon and we can look forward to next season and trying something different, I think we should be worrying less now about Ulster and aiming to progress at the All Ireland series, I'd love to see Murphy back in Croke Park at quarter final stage again, if we get there with things going well I still think we have massive potential provided we get an injury free run at it, no point killing ourselves trying to win Ulster we need to focus on the All Ireland, you have to aim for the top prize,
"Commit, focus, believe, achieve," the mantra of some buck from Glenties back in the day.

It has been a bit frustrating that the new man and his backroom team have not been announced yet. But I wouldn't be too worried either. By the look of things it's going to be someone internal so they'll have been keeping a close eye on the club championships anyway. Plus it's a long time until McKenna Cup in January. The new man will be effectively working off a blank canvas so he'll have time to assess, decide who he wants involved, have discussions to lay out his blueprint etc.

I think that there is still a nucleus of a good team there. Not All-Ireland contenders but should be well capable of challenging for provincial honours/reaching the last 8.

The mere notion of Martin McHugh as manager is pathetic. We are heading down a very sorry road.

Can't see any mention anywhere of what they're gonna do if there's a draw in any of the games. Maybe it's another closely guarded secret from donegal gaa :)

I totally agree with you regarding putting too much emphasis on winning Ulster and then becoming totally flat for the Qualifiers although this year it was a great route to an All Ireland Final .Regarding the manager it is amazing the amount of negativity being shown to Martin McHugh. From 1994 when McEniff stepped down and every subsequent managerial race the whole county were baying for McHugh to take the job but now the attitude towards him seems to have changed. Why?Is it football related or something else.Maybe with oul fellas like Kevin McStay and Colm O'Rourke giving it a go he might be tempted this time

100 % agree gunman lets cut the negativity and get McHugh into the role if he is interested.

Has McHugh managed much recently? He managed Sligo IT a few years ago when Ryan McHugh was there. Did he manage Kikcar?

He managed Kilcar for one season, probably about 5/6 years ago. Kilcar got to the final that year and were hot favourites to win against Glenswilly. However they didn't play a sweeper in front of Michael Murphy and you can guess the rest. He was a great player but as well know management is a different animal.

I wouldn't judge him too harshly because he couldn't set up a team to stop Michael Murphy when he was in his prime, many others failed at that also

Kilcar trail blazed their way to the final that year and thought they could do the same against a dogged Glen side on a wet day. Their ego on the line cost them that day.

McHugh mighnt be too bad but some of the names mentioned as part of his backroom team would be a disaster.
