Give the job to the Buncrana man that came up with the genius tactic to change the numbers of 22 players from teh programme yesterday. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 677 - 12/09/2022 09:21:07 2440373 Link 0 |
That is a fair point, one bad day at the office doesn't mean he couldn't be a good manager for us. I was hoping for someone who might change our playing style, I don't think we would get that with Martin Beag. From listening to him on commentary he favours the running game. However he could potentially put together a fantastic backroom team. At the moment it seems that no one wants the job.

I've even heard whispers the board may need to go back with cap in hand to Bonner as it seems that there is no outstanding new candidate. Make of that what you will. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 8891 - 12/09/2022 11:05:12 2440387 Link 0 |
Genius stuff from the buncrana mgt at the weekend.....pure genius! totalrecall (Leitrim) - Posts: 878 - 12/09/2022 11:25:12 2440391 Link 1 |
Do you honestly think bonner would go back heard from a good source that he was approached about a county job but he wasn't interested.. clubs had a chance to nominate but very few did. We had a lot of experts during the Ulster championship they have gone to ground now but.

An indicative stunt from the modern day self proclaimed 'coach' trying to catch the opposition out, dummy teams etc. etc. If the same time went into this as the actual coaching the outcome might be different. But doing it for a club intermediate QF though, Holy Moly... peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 677 - 12/09/2022 12:05:36 2440399 Link 1 |
No I don't think he'd go back. It's a serious commitment and he has done more than his fair share over the years. We're not the only ones - Monaghan and Roscommon are having similar issues. A good point Bonner made too in his column was the additional problem we have in terms of geography. We're quite isolated up here and so atracting outside managers is tougher for us than others.

Could the people posting about rumours actually please post what they actually are instead of playing these childish mind games…. eunans4ever (Donegal) - Posts: 1527 - 12/09/2022 18:07:40 2440454 Link 4 |
True. Not like saying a name here as a possible candidate is slander. More to do with people wanting to appear wise after the fact rather than commit to a name they've heard bandied about and then appear miles off.

Brendan Devenney said on Highland Radio that there was supposed to be an announcement tomorrow (tuesday) but that it's been put back now. I doubt if anyone on here knows any more than that.

Strong news circulating that it's Mc Hugh . I was told that about six weeks ago and it's definitely looking like it. Stick with Rory boy for the news in Donegal gaa. I have all the right contacts. rorysboys (Donegal) - Posts: 2193 - 13/09/2022 08:12:18 2440473 Link 0 |
I refer you to my post of the 3/9/22 below: "Well I believe that Jacktheboy, RoryGall and DonegalD all mentioned McHugh as being the favourite prior to your post. And to DonegalD's post you sarcastically asked him if had he inside knowledge, and went on to say that O'Rourke would get the job. (17/8/22). You then barbed at another poster who said that McHugh had a wonderful football brain. So which is it lad? For the record, are you in favour or against McHugh?" Stick with Rory Stories, where the facts are stranger than fiction. SouthOfTheGap (Donegal) - Posts: 443 - 13/09/2022 10:04:12 2440483 Link 2 |

Same as in Roscommon, nobody wants the job! foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 1811 - 13/09/2022 11:41:40 2440504 Link 0 |
That's what I've heard too but it's not exactly a scoop. They were mentioned at various stages. Maybe it's the case that Kavanagh doesn't want it confirmed til after the club championship has finished for fear that it would disrupt Eunan's preparations?
