Game sold out since Friday evening. You'd think the game would attract 30k if the stadium was able to cater for it.

Was the capacity reduced in recent years? MacHale Park can take 35k but with H&S overkill it's been reduced to around 24k.

Our hurlers firmly answered those who questioned their character. Our footballers' character has been questioned too, I hope our lads give the most resounding or answers tomorrow. Up Galway!!!!

Yep! Nothing like a kick up the ass to motivate a team. The thing is both teams have got a largesse, so anyone's game.

Time for the big ballers to deliver now for PJ like the lads did for Henry yesterday evening. We are a better team and have better players than Mayo so its time to put them out.

Why did they take Comer off instead of Shane Walsh?

Joyce and ONeill need to be sent packing.

If you have a proper short kick out strategy you don't need to worry about playing into the wind.

And how did Mayo get the goal? A long aimless goal kick straight to one of their players.

Dublin wouldn't have got within an asses roar of 6 in a row with restarts like ours.
You don't need generational players to kick the ball out quick(ball and tee ready and sprint out) and to open space on the wings and run into it for a pop ball into the chest.

As for our tactics, completely pointless playing into a wind or chasing a lead. Back and forward outside the 45 without any player capable of being proactive... All trained to be cautious beyond belief.

Our up turn in fortunes has nothing to do with him but more the improvement in underage after we went nearly 10 years without a Connacht minor.

Very poor performance let Mayo sneak a win by the usual 1 point. Joyce needs to change tactics or call it a day as that auld lateral passing, no cutting edge gameplay isnt going to win us f**k all. A dire match with Walsh totally out of sorts but left on pitch for 74 mins. Comer injury probably decisive a pity we have gone back after last year but injuries to Molloy, Comer, McHugh and no silke cost us dear. Still have ingredients there but need a new approach for 2024. Mayo will do very well to beat Dublin, Derry but could account for Armagh.

Congrats to Mayo on their deserved win. PJ totally outsmarted on the sideline today. Mayo gifted us the breeze in the first half betting on us setting up defensively and not taking advantage of it, and we duly obliged. What sort of general sets his positions to a preordained pattern heedless of the prevailing conditions? Very poor. And I hasten to add this is the first time I've criticized PJ. That game ironically was lost on m the first half that we, on paper, won.

The bottom line from this weekend is Shefflin had the belief in the team to drop all the out of form players and Joyce didn't. Comer going off didn't help but I haven't an earthly idea how Shane played the full game. Heaney, Tierney, Conroy all out of form but Joyce stuck with all of them

Yet at the end of it all - had Shane actually turned up at all we would have won it

I felt really sorry for Sean Kelly,he is a fab footballer but it was obvious he wasn't any where near fit..I have to question why he wasn't replaced.the loss of comer was a huge loss and left Galway with no attacker to aim for..very unlucky with last 2 balls into the square..very enjoyable game..Shane Walsh is not anywhere near his best..

Tierney made an absolute mickey out of the goal chance taking a step too many. We threw that game away as usual and its time now for Joyce to resign and take Cian O Neill with him. We have always had dwadly forwards which somehow Joyce and O Neill particularly have coached out of them.

Between the out of form players and two lads who were clearly carrying injuries I'd say it's harder to get off the team than on it.

Joyce seems to have his favourites, his cronies, who will not be dropped regardless. Shane Walsh was very poor today. Kelly should not have played either. He is good though, but if injured he should not play. Galway lack a good place kicker. How many wides has Walshe had. Too many big time Charlies on the team, including the manager. What is to be done, good luck Mayo, please go on and win it this time. Galway need to look long and hard at themselves.

Similar to what Davy Burke said after the Cork game yesterday, if ye converted one of your goal chances ye have that game won. Galway had two good goal chances and a couple of half chances near the end. Comer going off was a big factor. Enthralling game. Both sets of players left everything on the pitch.
