Club championship doesn't matter in Galway. The same 15 will start for galway next year in the Leinster championship

I don't remember anyone saying that Henry was going to definitely bring galway success, and limerick have started last year and this as favourites. In any event the knives will be out for him now Enter Davy.... Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 08/07/2023 22:26:12 2493242 Link 0 |
The beer in Moloney's must be fair strong. Henry is a class act and gave a decent honest interview post match. Not like last weeks football, talking up tithe progress in year one. Re resting cases - Two or three weeks ago, you'd a separate thread on 'national treasure'. Limerick will win it again. And makes for good watching. Walsh Cup 2023. Build your case with correct evidence, or your case will rest, but won't pass a jury.

I don't know what match you were watching. How many times have we seen Limerick figuring out teams in the first half and blow them away in the second half. Galway are just not good enough... fact.

Ifs are only ifs and not reality, no team have beat them since 2019 in a knock out game and that is not an if that's a fact. They are the best team to ever play the game!

I agree we could have been up by more at halftime but we weren't and part of the reason is because they woke up. They beat us to every loose ball in the second half and they kept turning us over. Since 2018 they have been the best team in Ireland and they are not going away any time soon. Good luck to Clare and KK trying to beat these lads.

I for one can not understand why most yeas people are talking about Galway as potential all Ireland champions,, in the history of hurling championship Galway have won 5 titles Limerick are now going for 4, in a row , just actually think about that and 4 of the 5 titles Galway were straight through to a semi final and one manger was involved in winning 3 titles think of all the management teams since ,, and them titles were won without a backroom team of 15-20 or S/c if Galway were playing in Munster they would not make it through the group thet luckt in Leinster bar Kilkenny the rest are woeful , in reality Galway are a team who play for the McCarthy cup but have no real hope of winning going on there history 1 title In 35 years ,, in an era of stats and facts they are the facts no doubt someone next year will tip them again ,, Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 968 - 09/07/2023 08:30:00 2493266 Link 1 |
Whatever about Henry, the players need a long hard look at themselves. Why is it when push comes to shove they're find wanting time and again.

I am a long time reading hogan stand posts but this is the most stupid silly post I've ever seen , on so many levels 1. What is the value of a Limerick poster coming on to the Galway forum straight after a bad defeat. Humility in victory ! 2. Yes a few Galway posters got carried away with the tipp performance , but in general it was more in hope than in expectation. 3. I looked at the line ups before the game and I said to myself , Limerick by at least eight...just better stronger players. 4. Henry has done a decent job. Nobody expected miracles or AIs within 2 years. Yes , some poor decisions in second half but didn't really impact the result 5."I rest my case' . What case? Or maybe that means you are going to stop posting here? If so , good I am a fan of Limerick, but postrs like you make me want to shout for Clare (or even kilkenny) anotheralias (Galway) - Posts: 960 - 09/07/2023 10:07:32 2493272 Link 2 |
True I agree with you this time - I should have mentioned keeping the scoreboard ticking over at the other end also! To tell you the truth I was more disappointed last year in that match as Galway did keep the scoreboard ticking over and were level coming up to full-time but this time there was complete domination by Limerick in the second half no doubt despite the ref Owens (yet again!) not giving frees to Galway and not penalising Limerick for overcarrying / throwing the ball at certain times in the second half in particular but in saying that those decisions would not have changed the ultimate outcome of the game as Limerick were the better team no doubt and were getting stronger as it progressed. Poor Padraig Mannion inadvertently gave the ball to an opposition player for the killer goal for the second time in 3 games. Not good!

I think at this stage it's about 100,000 Galway supporters that were in Croke Park in 17. I hope they all enjoyed the All Ireland win that day. Its going to be a long time before they enjoy another. 5 or 6 players to go and nothing on the way to replace them. Armchairreporter (Galway) - Posts: 81 - 09/07/2023 10:23:02 2493277 Link 1 |
We can complain about tactics, management, referees etc all we want but the reality is that Limerick are streets ahead of everyone else. We have 4-5 players at the necessary standard and the rest are ordinary hurlers who do their best. The thing is that we are still in the top 4 same as last year. That hasn't changed despite the overblown guff about Munster hurling. We beat their number 3 Tipp quite easily. We are not the only ones needing a reality check. There's no point pussyfooting around this - many of the better players Galway had are either retired / missing or are out of form. In the 2015 - 2018 era we had the likes of JC, Johnny Glynn, David Burke, Johnny Coen, Aidan Harte, Colm Callinan, Jason Flynn and Niall Burke (effective as subs), GMac (in form and very solid at centre-back), Padraig Mannion (in form), Conor Cooney (in form) and Joseph Cooney (in form). That is a lot of players either not involved anymore (with no intercounty standard replacements) or older players not in form so that is a huge part of the current problem. Perhaps its no coincidence either that most of those players were / are big units well able for the physical battles and many of the current players are the small, nippy type that won't cut it at the highest level to win an AI as Galway teams post 1988 / pre 2017 found out to their cost. tommy k (Galway) - Posts: 3470 - 09/07/2023 10:49:59 2493283 Link 2 |
The game changed after the Limerick goalie took an 'injury"break and team reorganised to claw back lead before halftime, meanwhile Galway continued to do the same thing in the new situation which was not working any more. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome is generally called ~Insanity. backtooldwall (Galway) - Posts: 140 - 09/07/2023 11:19:24 2493292 Link 1 |
