Replying To WanPintWin:  "The problem is who's there to replace them. If there was real pressure from newer lads we'd be seeing them.
I don't say this lightly, but that was men against boys since the end of the first half. The scoreline actually flattered us in the end.
We hardly laid a hand on them in the second half and looked completely incapable of stemming the tide. At the same time we didn't have time to breathe when he had possession and got turned over regularly.
The result was inevitable from very early on in the second half. A very disappointing end.
Congrats to Limerick. As we already knew, they're a super team."
Are you telling me there is nobody better in the county to bring on ahead of Liam Collins etc... No offence but he's not ready for senior inter county hurling

Replying To galway19:  "Absolutely septic tactics from Shefflin. Right when we had them by the throat he switches to a one man full forward line and next thing they reel off four scores in a row. Crowding our half forward line was the exact opposite of what was going well for us for the first half hour. Even worse he persisted with a one man full forward line for the whole second half, reminiscent of a Davy Fitz team. No progress in the last two years and I'd be sending him back to Ballyhale tonight. He brings great passion for sure but you could find a 100 managers in Galway that are boisterous on the sideline. Croke Park is where the pressure tells on the sideline. I'd be on the phone to Eamon O'Shea in Salthill straight away."
A total rethink at county board level is needed. Eamon O Shea wouldn't save that corpse of a team tonight. Who from the 17 minor team has stepped up? This rebuild has to start at underage with some sort of contingency to senior. Flynn, cooney, g-Mac and diathi surely can see it's time to go. We are going to be in the doldrums for a long while yet. The long fix over the quick fix is the only hope of future AI success otherwise we're at this post mortum again in five years time.

Replying To Jackson88:  "Total capitulation by Galway in the second half. I for one hope it's the last I see of a few of these players... Some players have given a lot to Galway, but it's time for a few of them to hang up their coats."
I'd say you had the TV turned over before the analysis on RTE. We are just back at the car and you were typing at 1937hrs. Was the game even over when you posted?

Surely the end of the road for Shefflin. Poor side line management, the team has been mediocre at best this championship and much of that was a result of strategy and team selection.

But it would be churlish not to acknowledge that supreme demonstration from Limerick. What a team. We'd have lost to them regardless of who was in charge today. Just maybe not by so much or so badly.

Ah we completely choked in the 2nd half once "they" got their 2nd goal! If Clare had been playing them in the 1st half and were 1-12 v 1-07 up they would have buried them and gone in 10-12pts up at half time.

You'd have to admit if we had the correct ruthless attitude we should have had them buried at half time.....limrik were rotten in that 1st half completely there for the taking. We were all over them even though We didn't have that killer instinct.

Same old Katser..
Bad winner and a worse loser.
"They" whether you like it or not are one of the all time great teams. No shame in losing to "Them"

Talk is cheap. It's action that counts. See, the thing is Clare has played Limerick twice in championship fare this year, and on neither occasion did Clare go in 10-12 points up at half-time. So, I don't see the relevance of your 'if' point.

Go down visit the cousins over the next two weeks as there'll be a mighty buzz around Limerick city, made even better if Clare win tomorrow. Hope Clare do win, but just cannot see them get a past the cats.

I think if you can't get O'Shea in as manager he has to be brought in some coaching capacity. He is obviously interested given his involvement with the development squad this year. We don't lack for options in terms of younger in house coaches if we are thinking long term - Kenneth Burke, Gavin Keary, Shane Cusack. Bottom line is Shefflin's position is untenable.

Skillet, I enjoy watching this Limerick team play and do think they one of the great, characteristic of greats is they are humble in victory and gracious in defeat, you could take note, to help you remember where you came from, Limerick won little from 1973 to 2017 and spent some time in second tier hurling for many years in naughties, maybe that might bring you down to earth and fans like you.. I do hope Limerick win 4 in row, unfortunately for Galway it's rebuilding time,

Echoes of 2012 AI Final v KK. Did all the hurling first 25 mins. Fade out last from 25-35. Totally outplayed in second half and our main man ( Joe and this time Conor) barely touches the sliotar. When we had them on the rack we needed that second goal to put us 8 up and pressure on them. Once Limerick got to break a point in it , game over. They are ruthless and superb too. Hate the stuff by the way with goalie feigning injury helmet off etc to buy some tactical time.

The same Cats who were nearly beaten by this Galway team? Clare for the win.

I'm well aware of where we came from in terms of success and I'm well aware that we were in the doldrums for years. That's why these days are special.
This is a great team. Constantly being put down but the poster I responded to.
If Galway had beaten us today I'd have happily cheered for them in the final. I respect Galway hurling immensely and would have had no issues with losing to them. My post was directed at a particularly insipid poster, nothing at all to do with Galway, A fine GAA county.

Agreed. Great game management and all that, but very cynical.

Well, on the plus side with Galway now out in both codes I can focus on the women's soccer world cup.

Dear God above.

Replying To FatLadySinging:  "Limerick were all over us in the 2nd half. They looked to have a lot more players on the field than we had. Why did the goalie persist in hitting the ball out long when 2 or 3 backs were loose to pass it out to ? Henry ought to have been able to take some action to stem the flow. Every ball that went in to the forwards in 2nd half were gobbled up by the Limerick defence. We seem to have regressed since last year. We now need a radical re-building. Limerick still look unstoppable."
You're the whole time defending Gleeson on the football page but giving out about goalie now that it's hurling? WUM
