Interesting team. I wouldn't be too surprised if Flynn or C Cooney started for a finish, but Fahy deserves a chance and I like the midfield of Linnane and Mannion

Good to see Shane Cooney back on the bench after injury

Replying To Jackson88:  "In fairness, Conor cooney didn't get one point from play in the two county finals in 2022 against loughrea, oisin coyle cleaned him both days. Oisin coyle is a better half back than McInerney, and Jamie Ryan is a better forward than any of the forwards on the bench currently"
Judging by your posts HS may play the entire Loughrea 15!

As I said here before I'm surprised Jamie Ryan hasn't got a chance to prove himself at this level against the "bigger" teams - Conor Cooney is continuously starting (up to now at least) and letting the team down. It doesn't make any sense.

J Cooney played at 6 in the league v Cork

Suffice to say that there's a reason this was not repeated

'the truth' is your opinion, son, and don't forget that

Mannion will play deeper than midfield as usual. That's what we do nowadays.

Monoghan will drop in there with Linnane and we will play with 5 up, or Tuohy might start, to police McGrath.

It's good to see Shane Cooney back again alright

I like the look of that Galway team. Especially Kevin cooney 14. Conor cooney not starting imo is a good thing. He hasn't done it for me on the big days recently so a run off the bench might suit him along with Flynn. Dynamic midfield. I think Burke should start 3 and Mc 6. Better balance I feel that way.

One game...and that's sufficient to abolish the strategy... McInerney playing 6 for the last 6 years and that hasn't worked either !

Mc isn't mobile enough or got the distribution skills Burke has for 6.

Don't you think there was a reason it wasn't tried again? Or do you know something that SHefflin, and O'Neill before him, don't?

What do people think of Eanna Murphy being left in goals for the Tipp game as he has been very poor in the last 2 games conceding 6 goals albeit he hasn't had much protection from his fullback line or further out the field?

I think changing goalkeeper mid-championship is not a very clever thing to do, so i understand it. But Fahy and others deserve a right crack at his job next year for sure

I have doubts about Murphy as a keeper..he always seems jumpy around the goals to me and always seems to want to get involved..now maybe it's the modern way,I'm comparing him to Nicky and Eoin Murphy..they just do the basics and get on with things..I also think he will get caught due to what looks like a huge wind up with his clearance..he might prove me wrong this weekend..surprised Linnane hasn't seen more time, saw him play fitzgibbon a few years ago and expected to hear a lot more on him..will there be a change between Burke and Mcinerney due to Callanan being picked full forward..a big test ahead for the 2 corner backs..at the other end the Galway full forward line might just find a few holes in that tipp defence..good choice of ref for game as he uses a bit of common sense..looking forward to a great game, hope weather holds up..

How many of the '6 goals' are directly attributable to him? Certainly Dublin's first goal, but outside of that I don't remember too many shockers from him..

I'm not as knowledgeable as others on this thread but in the Limerick v Galway matches Murphy has played in I felt his distribution has been very good from puckouts. A bit like Quilligan in Clare they are not great shot stoppers but are there for restarts.

Yes and brutal since. Wasn't able to clear his lines in the corner Vs kk

You're sounding like the Florida resident on here, are you from Jackson, Mississipi?

He was excellent in this department all '22. He's struggled this year I've felt. The first half of Dublin game was shocking

I think he might get a small bit of criticism that's unfair, but he deserves to be challenged for the position and if he's still the starter next year it will be on merit

If Burke was the Glenn Hoddle of distribution, tis unlikely he'd need Cathal Mannion playing at 2nd centre back beside him. Or is Mannion there to stop/hit opposition traffic, that Burke and GMac are incapable of stopping/hitting? A troubling aspect of Galway's displays v Dublin and Kilkenny imo, was the ease with which loose opposition runners were allowed to tear up through the middle of Galway's defense. Would be a problem with one centreback, but it's scarcely credible with us fielding two centrebacks. And Jackson thought GMac was a bad no6 defensively!!

Could he be missing Daithi's presence at FB ? Confidence is not as high for sure and listening to podcasts featuring a former Galway goalie, the confidence that Daithi gives at FB is pure gold.
