Replying To Trump2020:  "ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED. Sigh."
Exactly what I didn't want happened.......the self destruction button was pressed and we gifted Kilkenny another handy Leinster title.
Luckily We can bounce back against Offaly/Tipperary......that's the only good thing I can take from that.

I've given up on thinking about that, I'm not blaming him, I'm blaming the people who select him.
Contributes practically nothing. As for that goal, we just need to put that last play in the corner out for a line ball, we had enough chances.

Yes Galway only have themselves to blame.

School boy defending at the end. Regardless of not clearing the ball, he should have been lamped with a shoulder and left on the ground. Criminal to let a shot off here. No idea why we bother with Conor Cooney. Wouldn't catch a cold out in the Arctic in a Galway jersey but go down to Athenry in August and he will be catching them out of the sky for Thomas' over the county backs. Fintan again abysmal. Walter Walsh running away from him should be the death signal to his place in the team. Shefflin again way too slow getting subs in the when some lads were miles off the pace. He's looking like another Shane O'Neill with no discernible style of play or puck out tactic. We'd nearly be better off losing to Tipp so we can end this experiment as we clearly aren't going to beat Tipp, Limerick and Clare/KK with this setup. The only positives were Whelan and Kevin Cooney who didn't deserve to be on the losing side.

I totally agree Conor Cooney only touched the ball once and made a mess of it and he stayed on for 60+ minutes you need 15 men playing good to beat Kilkenny

Some NEGATIVES and POSITIVES: Negatives: we LOST a very winnable match, dug a DEEP HOLE of 8 points I believe, too many wides, etc. Positives: we fought back from a DEEP HOLE in consecutive matches, we played better than we did vs Dublin, etc. Whether we play Tipp or Offaly we need to stop digging ourselves into DEEP HOLES. Sigh.

Again we make a very average with little star quality Kilkenny look better than they are. Once I saw the ball been kicked into Buckleys path I knew he would score.

Conor Cooney was so poor today it's not the even trying or been focused that gets me. Time to move on

Scarey premonition on the 'knowing how to win' business, Trumpy. What a call that was!!

Commiserations, Galway hurling. Even I feel sickened for ye. Those cats must have 29 lives, never mind 9. Two good finals today, but wholesale errors by all four teams in them, and lots of slip-ups on the sidelines by managements as well. So, all teams left in the AI series still have a chance. Galway have a lot to work on, but still well in with a shout.

Btw, do you find Jackie Tyrrell's 'one trick pony' comment about Conor Whelan a bit strange? I like Tyrrell and think he's a very good pundit, but Whelan is a class act. He really showed that again today. Any player can have an off day like he had versus Dublin. But overall, he's top-notch. Imagine if he got the regular supply of good ball that Gillane and Flanagan get for Limerick, what damage Whelan would do then!

My main takeaway was how much better Kilkenny were at dirty work out of 12/13 rucks in game we came out with 2 and also we were wiped on puck outs say blanchfield caught more clean ball then our entire team.

I'd be more critical of gmac and cooney then mannion for shambles at the end.

Exactly. It was no shame to lose to those Kilkenny forward lines that had Comerford, DJ, Shefflin, Brennan et al. We conceded a huge score today to a forward line with Billy Ryan, John Donnelly, Wally Walsh and Tom Phelan in it.

The notion that CC isn't trying is a risible one. Regardless, we'll have to move on without him, unless he can rediscover some game at this level.

Yip. Getting more and more like the Mayo footballers every year. Losing matches they should be winning and a calamity of a goal at the end. Lol

Replying To foreveryoung:  "Don't I know only too well, Trump, that it's all just a bit of banter. Shure, didn't we Americans invent the very word? But it's more pleasurable to have a cut off these self-proclaimed experts, especially the ones who are 100% sure that something will happen. Ye have a few of them on here. And while I'd prefer to see Limerick do the 5-in-a-row of Munster titles, I'd be almost as equally satisfied to see Clare bridge their 25 year gap for a provincial title. In Leinster, a Galway win is the result that I'd prefer to see. However, it wouldn't be the end of the world if ye were to lose. I find that quite a number of Galway fans over react when things go wrong, and then get over excited when the team gels and puts together a storming performance."
"...that it's all just a bit of banter. Shure, didn't we Americans invent the very word?"

You sure about that? I quote from Wiktionary"

banter

Etymology
1670s as verb, 1680s as noun. The origin is unknown, possibly from London street slang; ostensibly as *bant +‎ -er (frequentative suffix). Possibly an Anglo-Gaelicism from the Irish bean ("woman"), so that "banter" means "talk of women."

Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "Katser in his echo chamber is hardly representative of the prevailing view among Galway hurling fans. The majority of us are mildly optimistic or mildly pessimistic of our chances today, take your pick. We would want to be all completely daft to be over confident after the way we played against Dublin."
Point taken. You came out the wrong side of a very close game today, between two evenly matched teams.
This will hurt the Galway team, especially the way the match ended. But all is not lost. They have 2 weeks to regroup before you face either Offaly or Tipp.

Stop ... Walter Walsh leaving our backs for dead..... the size of him!

He had no hurley, so he also could have fallen/stood/sat on the sliotar and concede a free - small margins..

That Galway team is going nowhere under Shefflin but they still had that match won today with any cuteness at all by any one of a number of their defenders.

More aimless shooting from the half-back line. Nearly lost it for us against the Dubs, and lost it today. That and the absolutely headless defending leading up to the KK goal. Not impressed by Shefflin, his tactics, game-management, or his team selection.

It's just so frustrating 3 Galway lads playing well and losing by 1 point from our own mistake against a Kilkenny team playing to the best of their ability!
