The Munster football championship not being seeded any more surely gives the other counties Tipp, Clare, Limerick and even Waterford a better chance of winning it. Ok there is also the chance of more lopsided games in semis and finals down the line for some supporters to grumble about but surely some people are missing the point about the competition. The competition should be more about giving everyone participating a better shot at winning it which was the only point to it when it was started in the 19th century, not about making it more entertaining for spectators. I think its nonsense that the Leinster Hurling Championship is seeded. And now that it's not being run as a round Robin why not have 8 teams in it? It wouldnt take any more time to complete and noone would need a bye?

Colour of jersey matters Viking.

Think like you do Limerick should win if they play with their usual intensity. If they are a bit off like in the league games and tbh the Cork game too then no better team than Tipp to take advantage. I fancy Kilkenny against Dublin for some reason the only team they seem to do well against, or at least beat, the last few years is Galway. It will be close too though. I fancy Waterford against Laois but if Waterford are off like the last day Laois could well win. But I think last weekend was their all Ireland final will it have took too much out of them? Lastly our game against Clare could go either way. If we turn up like in the 2019 Leinster final, the 2019 AISF, or last weeks semi against Kilkenny we have a 50/50 chance. To win we also need to eliminate the 15 odd wides we had against Kilkenny the last day. And not concede any frees or very few from the middle 3rd back as Tony Kelly will score 99% of them. If we dont play 100% to the best of our abilities Clare will win pulling up.

Re the minor hurling championship, does anyone know why Meath were awarded a walkover vs Antrim last week in the Leinster Championship? Marlon_JD (Tipperary) - Posts: 1823 - 14/07/2021 14:46:31 2359811 Link 0 |
I heard three Antrim players tested positive for Covid and some of the other lads had to isolate as close contacts. Leinster council were asked for a postponement but refused.

Hope our fellas raise a bit of a gallop against the Cats. Need to improve again over the Galway game, and most likely post a bigger score. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 2466 - 14/07/2021 16:39:20 2359864 Link 0 |
"I think Dublin will take KK in the Leinster final though KK will be ready for them seeing how they took down Galway who were favourites for the AI with most of us" Really? Who is this 'most of us'? Do you ever consider that you and this 'most of us' have got it wrong . ."The KK work rate and intensity is something else but I fancy this Dublin team under Kenny to match them." So you're saying the work rate and intensity will be equal (debatable), what about skill, experience etc.? The bookies have Kilkenny hot favourites to win. Obviously all their paid hurling experts haven't a clue. Cockney_Cat (UK) - Posts: 2419 - 14/07/2021 22:27:06 2359957 Link 0 |
I still give Dublin a great chance against KK,Dublin looked quite accomplished in the skills department against Galway.Anyway time will tell and sure its only an opinion and not a lot to get hot under the collar about.I hope its a great game of hurling with two good teams.....looking fwd to it on Sat evening.

Point taken. Sure Dublin have a great chance, but they beat an abysmal Galway. I can't see Cody sending out a team with the arrogance that Galway displayed at the start. Anyway, a great weekend of hurling to look forward to.

They went for goals in the first 5 minutes, something KK, Tipp and Cork often did in the past but I don't recall people calling it arrogance! I think S O' Neill should have stuck with the team that finished strongly against Cork and left Canning on the bench since he was recovering from injury. I have seen arrogance and it doesn't come from the hurlers, in any county, but from some supporters especially from those counties that have won numerous All Irelands!

Of course its Crazy to compare them. Munster is a closed competition that is not even open to all counties within the province whereas the Rest of Ireland HC has teams from Connaught, Ulster and even Leinster competing for the privilege of being allowed take the field against arrogance Munster men. Only in Ireland !

BlueBeret. Way back in 1959 those 'arrogance (sic) Munster men' allowed Galway Hurlers enter competitions AT ALL LEVELS in our province. Even toda,y twelve years after entering the Leinster at Senior level, Galway are not allowed play in the Leinster Minor Hurling Championship.

Galway should be playing in the Leinster MHC. If Kerry get promoted really they should be playing in the Munster SHC though. They are a Munster County.
