To me TG4 have the best GAA coverage. And they should be given the rights to the matches. Is mise le meas, Galway- ford. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2614 - 28/06/2021 10:46:55 2354059 Link 4 |
It took a global pandemic for the GAA to cop on to the online streaming market. Clubs and counties streaming games, some at reasonable rates especially if you get a package of games. GAAGO now broadcasting some games to an audience in Ireland for a lovely price. With competition the quality will surely improve. Improving the nation's broadband coverage will also help. Quality is what the customer says it is. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7936 - 28/06/2021 12:13:14 2354095 Link 8 |
Couldn't agree with you more. Their coverage is fantastic across club and county. TG4 is a national treasure.

The problem is hardly anyone in Ireland understands "Irish", some country that can't even speak it's own language. I really admire places like Connemara, for me they are the only true Irish in the country, where they use their native tongue as their first language. The laughable thing is all the people who tell you they can speak the language but yet haven't a clue what's been said to them when a true native speaker engages with them. Pathetic people. Pathetic People? That's a bit harsh. And the only true Irish in the country are in Connemara? I think you've been away too long.

No Vic, I would not consider myself an Irish speaker because I'm not from an area where Irish is the first language and unless you are speaking the language on a daily basis you would be as well learning Latin. The issue is that most if not all who claim to speak the same amount of Irish as I do would consider themselves as Irish speakers, those are the pathetic little people. I admire anyone who learns the language but they will never reach total fluency unless they use it every day and no matter how much they learn they will still never replicate the true Irish. I met several people from Connemara years ago who struggled with understanding the English language, that's what I mean by true Irish. The most English thing anyone can do is speak their language, so shame on Ireland. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 28/06/2021 17:05:38 2354261 Link 0 |
Read it again slowly and come back to me and tell me where I said "And the only true Irish in the country are in Connemara"

I have made two attempts to reply to your post but for some reason they didn't get past the mod. I can guarantee you there was nothing slanderous, demeaning or otherwise in the posts, the mind boggles.

I don't think you need to struggle to understand English to be truly Irish. You don't even need to have particularly good Irish to follow what's going on in commentary on TG4, as the seanfhocal goes, Is fearr Gaeilge briste ná Béarla cliste

One reason is so the Irish sky subscribers will not cancel there subscriptions for the summer, usually when the premier league finishes people will cancel and get it back again when soccer starts.

"like Connemara" means it's not exclusively Connemara, so you missed a small but important word, not once but twice.
