Wexford Hurling 2025

Saturday is a big game that we have to really go for . If we win we will be ahead of Galway on head to head and it gives us a real chance of staying up. We have a 3 week break then before going to Limerick . To keep momentum going now it's very important for our season that we put in a good performance on Saturday and hopefully secure a win

One thing to note lads Limerick will have 4 weeks in a row of games when they play us on March 22nd as they play KK on paddy's weekend now . We will be coming off 3 weeks without a competitive game . It's vital we get a result Saturday to keep momentum going then we have 3 weeks to prepare for Limerick then 4 weeks for the Antrim championship opener

He came off for Shane Reck so my thinking would be it was just down to wanting an extra defender to be on to see the game out.

They're all turning 27 at some point this year, it's there three years after that are our issue right now

Would like to see this team too. Its an important game we have to play our best available team. This game will have no bearing on the game in Salthill in May.

The only thing is by our match v Limerick, Limerick might already be in the league final and could possibly give the panel a run out against Wexford.

Expecting a bumper crowd in Wexford Park this Saturday evening v Galway, it's a big game and need to back up the performance v Clare last weekend and get a result.

I see Simon Roche is only 18.

Is he still in school?

Looks like he is going to be a serious hurler for the future.

On the topic of umpires and refereeing in general, do you think Wexford are getting a raw deal off referees?
I am not as close as many of you but Rathnure had 2 players sent off very dubiously from what I saw on Twitter, Rory got a ridiculous yellow in v Clare last year which went unpunished when it happens with other counties. Same with Jack O'Connor v Offaly last year.
Cian Byrne pulling on the ball on Sunday and sent off yet Aaron Gillane hit Cathal Barrett off the ball in a Munster final a few years back and got away with it?
I saw the Dublin incident this evening and think it had the hallmark of a player deliberately going down to get an opponent, something I think Offaly get away with a lot.
I am basing this on podcasts, newspaper articles and the odd bit I see on social media as I do not see many matches live because I don't stay up till 1am for matches.
I think referees have no issue sending off a Wexford or Dublin player but don't have the balls to send off players from Munster counties. I don't have a perception of us as a dirty team yet I bet we have more red cards than some other counties.

Yep. Darren Codd is that age too. Only lads even on the panel from those 3 years then are Murphy who I heard was injured, Mcguckin, Clancy, and James Byrne I think.
I think James Byrne is a really underrated hurler, I'd like to see more of him.

I'd go with that. Still 6 lads 22 and younger getting experience there too.

I'd go with that. Still 6 lads 22 and younger getting experience there too. And experience lads like Dooley and Kevin Foley on the bench, along with other younger lads like Mcguckin, Tucker, Byrne, Roche. Is Dwyer injured again? What is wrong with Niall Murphy and how long will he be out for? Is Darragh Kehoe back training yet?

Not sure that's our best available team, but it's a good mix of experience and youth.

I saw that alright. I'll be interested to see if hopper made the cut. He's almost always overlooked.

Think Roche is 19. This is his last year u20. He left Peters last summer.

We're always targeted but everyone goes mad when you bring it up. This is actually a great example because we actually won the game so can't be accused of sour grapes.

I coach 8/9 year olds at the minute and you'd get onto them for putting their foot in front of the ball when hurls are flying. It's your own fault if you get hit.

From age 6 you'd be teaching them the first skill is to protect yourself.

That red card was absolute madness.

Pretty much our best available 15 at the minute but would like to see us doing something about the goalkeeper situation still.

He's getting on and we let the two viable replacements go.

Niall Murphy got a belt of a hurl under the arm at the Tipp match and has been injured since, he was hoping to get the green light for the Clare match but mustn't have done.

I agree Doylerwex but id say we are unlikely to see anyone else get a game in goal from now on unless we lose on Saturday
