Replying To Timbertony:  "Ah lads we have to move away from D Reck at 6. Did he play there v Clare? Liam S was saying on radio he dropped back into full back on Kelly and quietened him...but just wanted to double check!

Very strange the situation with Molloy, thought he stood out when he came on v KK. Going to be a big ask for Ryan to come back for the Antrim game but he showed last year v Galway that he makes some difference to the defence. He had Conor Cooney dumped on the ground in the first minute! I often thought he would be well able to play at 6 too."
Kelly came out the field

When McDonald comes back I don't think I'd drop Casey still, whatever about championship last year he deserves a chance this year definitely. If we have a full contingent come championship this would be my 15. It's probably wishful thinking as we tend to play only 2 men inside but I think it's our strongest on paper.

Fanning
Ryan Jippo S.Reck
Lawlor Reck C.Foley
Hearne Foley
Jack OC Chin Rory
Byrne McDonald Casey

It'd be a toss up between Foley and Dunbar tbh at centre field, and I don't think you could drop any of that half back line either in favour of Molloy atm.

Team named, no real surprises.

Fanning
E Ryan
Donohue
C Foley
Lawlor
D Reck
McGuckian
Hearne
Dunbar
Jacko
Chin
Redmond
K Foley
Casey
ROC

Obviously no appeal for Byrne which is disappointing.

It's a fairly strong bench as well

Thinking the same cant understand why we didnt appeal when there was video evidence showing it was a harsh red. Surprised Cian Molloy still not getting a chance but he maybe he isnt showing enough in training. Best of luck to Keith and the lads would be a big boost to pick up another win. Hopefully we get a big crowd in to back the lads.

Wouldn't jump to conclusions about the Cian Byrne thing. There are three possibilities -

1. No appeal lodged. Would be surprised if this was the case.
2. An appeal lodged, but unsuccessful. This would be disappointing.
3. An appeal lodged, but not heard yet. Maybe to be heard sometime today, or even tomorrow morning. And if it proves successful, he could be added into the matchday squad then anyway. Teams are allowed do that in the League. It's only in championship where squads have to be officially submitted to Croke Park on Thursday mornings and then no changes allowed outside of some exceptional circumstances.

You're right with option number 2, lodged and heard, but unsuccessful. Very disappointing!

That's a bit of a joke. Sounds like a referee and a committee that don't understand the rules or basic skills of hurling.

No seriously, that is absolutely scandalous.

What is it about referee's and Wexford.

Cian Byrne pulled on the ball but Lohan tipped the ball away and the hurl came up.

Has been a decent enough performance so far although that was an absolutely terrible goal to concede right at the end of the half

Scoring 0-04 from play isn't great but it's hard to score from the play when their backs keep on doing the world of fouling

The positives:

We seemed to have found a half-forward line, provided the first half Jacko is his new consistent level.

Lawlor has wing-back locked down.

Negatives:

Give away far, far too many frees for this level. Full-back got destroyed after the break. Reck going off a huge factor, but he has a history of picking up injuries unfortunately.

We tend to lose our shape too often when teams get a run on us, and may be more of the tactically naive teams in the Liam McCarthy.

Threw that one away tbh, created more than enough opportunities to win the game but kept on shooting ourselves in the foot with all our wides, Galway were about as efficient as a team could be in front of goal to be fair to them

I don't think going down to 1B is the end of the world, Clare and one of Dublin/Waterford will be down there so we will get some decent games, I don't really buy the argument that you need league games against top opposition to be ready for Championship, main reason why 1B teams don't go well in Championship is because they're not good enough to be in 1A in the first place rather than playing in 1B leaving them poorly prepared for Championship

Big issue for us was not today but the first three games, performances have been getting better so would be less worried about Championship than three weeks ago, just need to get everyone back fit

Thought we were going to kick on and win at half time but just completely went out of the game in the second half bar the late fightback. Don't think the ref did us any favours, penalty seemed harsh enough from where I was sitting.

A lot of past demons really reared their heads tonight, ref was poor but I don't think we have anyone to blame but ourselves.

I said it here at the start of the week about free taking and how it'll come back to bite us if it's not rectified we weren't punished last week but we most definitely were tonight. The two Casey misses (wide and the one stopped with the hurl) from inside the 45 really have to be automatic scores at inter county level.

Was down the opposite end for their first goal but it just seemed like a complete calamity and inability to deal with a high ball.

Build up to the penalty was brutal on our part, when we are toying around with the ball at the back we're really playing with fire.

Positives were that was probably one of the best games I've seen Jack O'Connor have for Wexford, Lawlor had a very good game also.

That is a very average Galway team, if we get the heads right and sort out the freetaking and silly fouls/wides we can take them again in championship.

I think the Leinster championship is there for whoever what's it enough this year.

I feel Kilkenny are a few points better than the rest in Leinster but not unbeatable either and not at the level of Cork or Limerick.
