Replying To Viking66:  "You obviously didnt see any of our games last year. We had around a flat 35 minutes last year. The last 20 minutes of extra time against Kilkenny and the 1st 15 minutes against Clare. Apart from that we were flying. We hammered Laois by 20 points. We drew with Kilkenny in 70 minutes and lost by 3 points to Clare despite being around 10 points down after 15 minutes."
I'm looking forward to a great match though some of the "MAGIC" is missing for me with Davy being gone. Galway Abu.

Like him or hate him he definitely added a Davy factor to games.

That was the factor that meant we were always a bit comfortable in the knowledge that he would find a way to make a balls of it or have Wexford either over or undercooked.

Good signs under Egan so far that Wexford are going to be a serious opponent for everyone this year and punch their weight in a way they haven't for a while.

He definitely did. I still laugh at when he was up in the stands with that plastic or glass yoke around him. You can't deny the passion the guy has for the sport.

No idea how this weekend will go, i think its irrelevant really but if i was a Galway man I'd be worried about my team. No replacements for Canning or Harte and David Burke is a squad player. Add in the fact that Conor Cooney, Joseph Cooney, Daithi Burke and Gearoid McInerney are the wrong side of thirty and the team begins to look a bit shaky.
You could probably name ten starters but the five you can't name are the lads that are supposed to drive the show on after Canning and i just don't think they are there.

Plenty of good players in Galway, challenge for Shefflin is to get the formula right which didn't happen last year.

your point is probably valid if it was another few years down the line. none of the lads you mentioned are even 30 yet (bar Gmac, he may have just turned it) i think there is going to be big performances this year from all the lads you mentioned and I think the squad player role Davy Burke had under O'Neill was incorrect. I think there is a league title, leinster final place and a place in the AI Semis for Galway this year, hopefully with the latter we make it over the line!

Getting your facts right might be a good start - Conor Cooney and Daithi Burke are both only 29! There is no shortage of talent coming through in Galway to replace retired players. NUIG and GMIT who both did very well in the Fitzgibbon recently were dominated by Galway players and even the winners UL had a couple of key Galway players in their fullback line.

I'm very cautious of this tactic my friend.

J Cooney, David Burke, Gmac, Coen all 30 or older, Daithi Burke and C Cooney are turning 30 this year.

If we are naive enough not to go and try and win this league we'll then we are ridiculous. This I believe we now have a chance of winning. Let's go to Galway who by the way are in a negative headspace losing canning and losing so badly in last years championship. Let's go to salt hill and drive a further nail in that coffin. And make them fear coming to wexford park and without chin let's be positive and forget that tactics ****. We need positivity and we have started in the right way.

That's the attitude Wexfordgaa. Beating Galway in Salthill in the league in 2018 is what started Limerick motoring. It's what might kick-start Wexford onto bigger triumphs, too. Your well overdue a national title. Best of luck, and here's hoping for a good, tough, tight game between the two teams.

negative headspace? Galway couldn't be in a better place right now both on and off the field. 'we need positivity and we have started in the right way' could very much be applied to us also ;)

While I want Galway to win it's not for the usual reasons. Wexford are probably a more settled team than Galway as you probably know who your starting team will be for the most part. Galway are still searching for that. We will get it but it takes time and matches. The good news for Galway is that they have a pretty deep pool of players to choose from.

TJ Brennan looked a very good prospect in the 2 games I watched him play he did well against ITC in particular but looked a bit tired in the final. Flaherty looked ok but not sure about him being an intercounty cornerback yet. From the 3 Fitzgibbon games I saw there is a big jump in standard up to intercounty. Some of the Wexford lads who did well for ITC and DCU arent even on the senior intercounty panel of 34. And only Shane Reck, ROC, (who both missed most of the Fitzgibbon Cup) and Cathal Dunbar would be possible Championship starters and of the 3 ROC the only certain starter.
