Longford GAA has released a statement outlining the background to Adrian Moran's recent surprise departure as senior hurling manager.
The Westmeath man was expected to remain at the helm for a fourth year after leading Longford to Lory Meagher Cup final appearances against Louth and Fermanagh in 2022 and ’24 respectively, but stepped down earlier this month along with the rest of his management team.
"After a great year in 2024, Longford, having reached the final of the Lory Meagher Championship, commenced preparations for the season ahead. However, a number of issues including long-term injuries and player availability surfaced," the statement read.
"Members of Longford GAA Executive Committee together with 2025 panellists, Adrian Moran and his management team assessed the situation and decided that in the best interest of all involved in Longford hurling that a new management team should be sought.
"The Officers of Longford GAA are immensely proud of the work that Adrian and his team delivered in the high-performance environment which they set up and improved upon year on year over their three-year tenure.
"Longford GAA thanks Adrian, Frank, David, Clive, Denis, Enda & James sincerely for their work on behalf of hurling in Longford and wishes each of them every success in the future."
