Internationally accomplished as an athlete and a coach. I'm delighted with it to be honest.

You would wonder who else was in for the gig . Did nt he work with Dublin footballers too .
Rossi I m sure has some of rarhnures younger players in his plans for to look at , at least . Same as few martins and any other in form players from in form teams . As well as other teams in different levels of championship.
Whether they are good enough or not he is going to have to blood new players and soon .
He can only work with the hand he is dealt .
Need hurlers with bit of bite , fight and willing to do the hard graft on and of the field.
No point in having lads oozing skill etc but don't have the stomach for the fight .
On the day you might need them they go missing. On a good day v average or poor opposition they stand out and look impressive only to go missing again when u need them most.
Give me 25 lads willing to give it all on the field and in their prep for the battle . That's a team i will follow regardless of results .

What level of GAA has he played to? Senior Inter County? Senior Club?

Charlie Mooney / Eamonn Wickham should be first on Rossitors list for calls - I think both of those would thrive in a Wexford setup.

What are peoples thought on Bernard Dunne - I wouldn't be a fan. Not sure what he can bring to the table. Yes he is high performance sport but …."
He's been very successful since he hung up his gloves. Hopefully some of his drive and energy might rub off on us. Not sure what his role is exactly though.

No relevance whatsoever. Elite performance is elite performance. There are hurling coaches for hurling. He's won a world title and coached Olympic medalists.

Right. So what is it exactly that he will be getting paid to do? If its not coaching and its not S&C? The things that we are miles behind on.

Not to shake a hornets nest too much, but I note from RTÉ that he was appointed as a Talent & Cultural Development Officer to Wexford GAA. However, the official statement from the County Board seems to indicate that this is a hurling only role.
Talented footballers treated like 2nd class citizens (again)?

A proven winner, having someone like him involved with a squad can only be positive. A good addition to Wexford seniors.

Dunne was very good with Dublin footballers. Highly thought of by the players. Had no input into the football side. More to do with how to prepare for tough contests physically and mentally especially when they come thick and fast. A good find although I'd generally be dubious myself of such appointments.

Maybe Smokeless Red will pay for an similar person for our footballers.

Looking forward to next year and if were to pick players who have something to add who either aren't on the panel or else should be given more of a role, are we agreed on the following?

David Clarke
Mike Kelly
Seán Rowley
Oisín Pepper
Simon Roche
A.J. Redmond
Charlie Mooney
Éamon Wickham
Joe Barrett (Unlikely to commit?)

Who am I missing?

Rory will be a massive loss next year and I hate saying it but we be lucky to stay in the liam mccarthy. Few more rumours of lads stepping away but Rory is the only one I know that is confirmed.

Strange that you know more than he does.

I would imagine it's about motivation.
Perhaps his job will be to get lads believing themselves. Maybe looking at things differently.
Encouraging them to express their talent on the pitch. No he won't be coaching them the skills of the game and I don't think he will be involved in strength and conditioning. There's others to perform those tasks.
Dunne was involved with the great Dublin team that won so much and I'm pretty sure their county board got good value for money by having him on board.
A fresh pair of eyes might be just what we need.
If he can improve the panel by let's say 10% then he will be worth every euro spent.

Is he working with adult teams or across all age groups?

Is this a hurling only appointment, or will he be both hurling and football?
