Cloughbawn finally won Intermediate A after so many near misses! Was a good entertaining game, plenty of attacking, though no real goal chances until Bannow hit the post in injury time.

2pointers can be a lift when they go over and if they don't it can be a bit deflating as it has also given up the chance of a 1pth. It wasn't just the fact they didn't go over for Kilanerin but they were all in a row and they didn't get any other scores in between. Better team won on the day anyway.

Very true zinny, kilanerin shooting in 2nd half was poor. In fairness to them, they were missing 2 v good forwards, kinsella and c Hughes. They would have been their only real goal threats. Shels very composed anytime I've seen them, they don't panic & they stick to their own system. Gusserane were disappointing, I really expected more from them considering their displays so far, and the scores they had accumulated. But castletown are a strong, well organised outfit. They have strength and footballers all over the pitch. It has the makings of a v good final though.

Thought both games today were a little disappointing albeit I thought Gusserane put in a good oerfkmance on the day.
The Martins yesterday were more impressive than any of the 4 today and apparently the Ballyhougue v Adanstown game was an entertaining affair, last minute 2 pointer for Ballyhougue to win it in ET when an easy 1 point free was there to be taken.
Also fair play to Cloughbawn, were the better team throughout and are now in line to complete a double, fair play to them. Actually 4 of the teams fighting across both codes with their 1st teams all won interestingly enough.

Shels had done their homework on who their shooters would be and anytime they got within range they came under a lot of pressure, they ended up have to have to try and kick quicker or from further out. As you said Hughes was a big loss, they seemed rattled by his departure and from then on didnt even try running at the goal. Tactically I would say Mattie got one up on his former club.
Gusserane perhaps suffered from an easy passage through to the semi. They had scored almost an average of 30pts a game coming into it. That was never going to happen against Castletown but after playing that type of football all summer with really no challenge, its hard to adapt to the pressure game.
An intriguing final for sure and no love lost between the two, both sides comfortable with their own systems.

Both games disappointing in hindsight. Castletown and shels looked hungrier sharper and more athletic overall . once both kinsella Did nt start and huges were gone kilanerin look vulnerable as the scores were harded to come by which will always be the case v the better teams either way . And As good as Cian hughes it must be a worry that he picks up so many injuries and without him kilanerin dont seem to have someoone to influence orchestrate the way they want to play . They need to have more than one game changer playmaker against the stronger teams they seem to struggle. 2 goal chances missed by gussaranne in 2nd half put paid to their challenge in after being opened up for 2 goals by castletown in the first half against the wind . They did nt play badly as said above just Castletown were so well organised they did bt get the space like they d got up to the semi final . Hard to imitate that intensity in training or practice matches or against lesser teams . Castletown won the game in the first half scoring 2 fosks afainst the brezze then soaked up early 2nd half pressure . They executed their game plan so well broke out of defence with pace and great ball retention and tackled with purpose/ intendity all over the field . Anything not precise by gusseranne was intercepted time after time . . So well drilled and comfortable in the system . They must put some tome into kick outs both for and against. Think they'll beat shels but will have to be as ruthless as they normally are shels can't afford to go behind and then be chasing the game . Shrls will definitely need to improve greatly to get the result . Need to take Castletown out of their comort zone easier said than done. Gardiner going off injured must be a worry for castletown . But Nolan would surely be more of a loss for shels if its a concussion like it looked looked very unsteady on his feet after coming off . Did nt see the incident was too far away in stand but opposing player got straight red card for it .
