You're talking about the wrong U20 team though, I was referring to the 2022 team, not the 2025 team

Apologies my mistake.

Nice to finish like that even if it was like a practice game. If it gives the likes of CBD or Dwyer some confidence for next year well then its something. Thanks to the players for there commitment to the jersey. Given up huge time out of there lives to give us something to give out about. Onto the club championship now. Some record by wexford in fairness against kk 222 (UK) - Posts: 856 - 25/05/2025 21:09:39 2612532 Link 0 |
The doom and gloom and abuse under match reports etc... is disgraceful in my opinion. I never seen a county so obsessed with calling for retirement. It has been a poor year and it's very disheartening to be gone from the championship before the end of May, but the abuse is way out of line. I couldn't care less about kk or if it was there 4th team, anytime you win against them it is a good win. hunting (Wexford) - Posts: 1148 - 25/05/2025 21:25:28 2612539 Link 0 |
Helps when bizarrely it's nearly always the last game of the series, and KK sometimes have nothing to play for. Even delayed the throw in one year, so that they'd be under no illusion about the required result.

Agreed, lads playing for us at every level need to realise you have the earn the right to play at this level. Workrate and being able to mix it physically are the basics. CBD is a good player to be fair when he gets his hand on the ball, plays with his head up. Hard winter in gym required.

Where are all those who were calling for Donohue and Fanning to be dropped? gone very quiet! Fanning best goalkeeper in Wexford by a country mile and donohue put Tj in his pocket today. WexfordWarrior (Wexford) - Posts: 3 - 25/05/2025 22:13:46 2612552 Link 0 |

Disappointment is the mood here as the bus makes its way down the n11....I doubt I will be back up it for another match. ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1351 - 25/05/2025 22:54:39 2612561 Link 0 |
Donohue did really well today. I wish fanning the very best in his long overdue retirement. What exactly did he do that impressed you today? Niall Murphy and Eoin Ryan made two brilliant saves alright. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3669 - 25/05/2025 23:00:47 2612563 Link 0 |
This is the first time Kilkenny had nothing to play for. Nor did we. The result would have no impact for either team.

It's all I can think about this evening. Some minor tactical changes and it was there for us. The absolute no show against Galway is unforgivable though. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3669 - 25/05/2025 23:09:53 2612565 Link 0 |

Meanwhile kk are going for 6 or 7 leinster titles in a row. Competed in league and all ireland finals. When we all seen that team for the weekend there was Only going to be one winner. Clare also gave a big performance with nothing to play for. Did anyone else hear rumors on retirements?

Donohue yes in the backs not midfield where he played earlier in the championship. If he was put back on hedgo maybe things could be different. The goal was a crazy decision but management were way to slow to make changes on the line. Yesterdays team was better than some of teams picked for championship. Performance against galway and offally were very poor. As soon as we seen the 2 teams and lawlor, butler, mossy not even coming on. They didnt bring down deegan or billy ryan who is probably their best foward now.its hard for a nearly complete new team. They could of had 2 more goals and they let chin off to play his game. The gallery was had among supporters i was with but its only when the leinster final and quarter finals are on and players at home twiddling their thumbs. It was still a game that had to be won but it was very weird. Talking to a former wexford great outside yesterday and he said there could be 3 or 4 retirements.it will be a big climb to get up the ladder and whoever is in charge will have to start again.the manager should be given a few years like what galway done. Who is the best manger thats not a outsider.Theres no secret the better players havent long left.it has to start and minor and u20. That 2019 team was backboned by very good underage teams. Teams have really upped underage. Kk went back to the start and are seeing results already. It helps when u have the hurlers of course Davie fitz has his critics but he had the lads absolutely flying. Granted liam dunne done alot of the heavy lifting and it was a much better team. Remember jippo and donohoe bursting up the wings and pointing. Poor jippo can barely walk now without getting injured. It was probably short term gain for longer pain but there was some days and support and colour out. Some lads have picked up injury after injury and we all expected rory o connor to be much better than he is. Slowandshortsighted (UK) - Posts: 70 - 26/05/2025 08:52:03 2612597 Link 0 |
It's sort of a forbidden subject in the club but I think chinner is done.

He did get the better of TJ but to be fair it was a nothing game that TJ shouldn't have been playing in.
