Replying To Magpie2:  "Small crowd, non existant atmosphere, no jeopardy of any kind, Kilkenny very understrength,
Wexford likely to be experimental???
No exciting build up before the game,
No real joy if we win.
No real sadness if we lose.
No more intercounty games for another 8 months.
Likely to be more retirements on the cards.
Seniors gone. U20s gone and unlikely our minors will survive much longer. ( Hope that won't happen)
Management at risk of being replaced.
2nd tier hurling next year in the league.
Low public support expected for most games.
If we happen to win on Sunday against the cats Some will say " sure it wasn't a bad year really, didn't we beat the old enemy"
As a passionate and loyal Wexford supporter I will be in Wexford Park for our final game but in truth it's not a game I'm looking forward to.
Let's hope that 2026 will make us smile again bur I am not optimistic."
God that's a depressing post. I'm looking forward to a good day out Sunday, maybe Saturday too work allowing, and then the club championship. Life goes on, get a grip lad.

As depressing as that is i must say I'm feeling the same.

I've no real interest Sunday beyond being a little nervous about being hammered.

Less worried about retirements too. Losing Morris, Matt, Dee and Mogie were massive.

Ok jippo will be a huge loss but we've already been without him for the year. Similar with Mac.

I don't see chinner giving up.

It would be a blessing if the other two really experienced players pack it in.

Need to be looking at a new spine next year with

1. Literally anybody who can find a man and keep the ball in play
3. Foley
6. Patsy
8. Hearne
9. Reck
11. Rory probably
14. Chin

Need to be looking at Redmond and Codd then for future 11 and 14

Foley far better at 5 or 7 then full-back. Will be a problem area if/when Jippo retires, but I would hope Eoghan Whelan gets an injury-free run at it because he is the most ready-made physically and has the hurling too.

Its hard to believe the curtain will come on the year sunday. The summer has barely started. The dissapointing thing about looking ahead the next 2 or 3 years kk are a nice bit of everyone in leinster, dublin are the second best team in leinster. Underage hurling is going well in dublin. Galway are galway but are probably 3rd. Theres not a whole lot between offally and wexford as the result proved the other day so the objective will be to blood lads in division 2 and get them up to speed. Keeping lee chin fit and on the field is a must. He will probably give another 2 or 3 years if he is able.
There wont be much intrest in this match from the outside. You have the few diehards from both counties that will be it. I think supporters would be happier see something different this weekend. New goalie,a few positional chages and a few newer lads. A team with an eye on the future. Theres a minority here who are happy enough once kk get bet and it papers over a load of cracks. That doesnt apply to everyone.
Just having a look at the kk team and its a team wexford should definitely be beating and restore a bit of pride. From my reckoning theres 4 or 5 starting who are in and out of the 26 but wont get near the squad at the business end.when they get back eoin cody and shane murphy from injury. Eoghan lyng and marty murphy from the u20 are also involved.. i think the players will be anxious to gibemmm and express themselves
I hear jowlellllllĺl

Not sure Eoghan is our best prospect there, more dog in Dara Kehoe. But both good prospects for sure. Eoghan longterm might be better halfback, excellent going forwards, and as you say excellent on the ball hurling wise.

Lyng and Murphy are excellent prospects, I wouldn't be underestimating them. Schooled in Wexford sure ;-)

Richie hogan on off the ball the other day saying how he thinks Antrim have more natural hurlers than Wexford, Laois and Dublin. This after he says his biggest regret is not relegating us in 2023. He really doesn't have much time for us at the moment does he! Then again he might have a point….?

You're right.

Kilkenny are resting about 10 first team players v Wexford.

He mentions in his book about how much he hated this particular Wexford team.

That he would of loved to see Wexford relegated to the Joe McDonagh.

McNaughton is a very good hurler and Molloy is decent enough but outside of that, I'm not seeing what he's seeing

Didn't know that. And good to know that too.

Young lad here (who's far more into soccer than I am) has been asking if I'll bring him to see Ireland play sometime, which is why I was looking up those tickets in the first place. I'll contact the local club and see if there might be any free ones going!

I think most of us would agree we have lads on our 26 who would be better Footballers. Antrim don't.

Hard for most people to be anything other than being depressed viking
You always were the eternal optimist and fair play to you for always seeing the glass half full.
I hate writing depressing stuff. I am overjoyed when we win and hate it when we lose.
The results over the last few years have been dreadful to put it mildly. We are just above
Joe Mac standard.
Maybe, Just maybe we will get our act together soon. Billy Byrne in an interview on South east radio reckons it might be 7 years before we are serious competitors again. Hopefully it won't take that long.
Yeah, going in to the park on Sunday I will feel the same coming out, no matter what happens.
