Replying To Past hurler: "All of them underage talents you mentioned are very slight physically and struggled to win their ball, which is a must at senior inter county hurling.
Richie Leahy was very unfortunate with injuries though, he would of probably made it." Richie just didn't have the drive/discipline either. Alot of talented lads haven't. Yes they are slight, but most of the best hurlers, as in stickmen, are at that age.

Replying To Magpie2: "Didn't hear that he was. Franks, Fitzhenry, Mythen, Jason Ryan and now you say Viking that JJ is involved. And that's just the coaches and selectors. With all those experienced guys with Rossi we are very much underachieving. Would it make a difference if we changed our backroom and freshen things up a bit? Or keep them intact for another year and hope that everything improves ? I have a feeling that Keith will step down shortly after the Kilkenny match and maybe if that happens he could take over once again with the U20s. Of course we would then have the unenviable task of finding a new manager. I really can't envisage a big queue lining up to take the job. Just a thought, i may be wide of the mark." If Keith walks, and I don't think he will or should, it will be to spend more time with his kids. I can't see him going back to the u20s.

Replying To Slowandshortsighted: "Its going to be a huge step for screeney. He has done alot of hurling already and the demands of high end s&c could be difficult. Liam collins was similar stature and he really struggled with the training.remember a sean macdonagh from galway playing minor around 2018 or 2019 he was excellent.liam collins was excellent underage aswell. He isnt on the galway panel this year. Oisin pepper was well touted when davey was in charge. To be fair rory o connor and conor mac havent lived up to underage potential. Richie leahy gave a unbelievable display against galway one year at minor. Billy drennan was well hyped and had a good u20 all ireland but has went backwards since and will do well to make their panel when they get all the injuries back. Its a huge step up as we all know and things have to go fierce right for ya. We have all seen really good minors or u20 not kicking on Its hard to look at next year when the summer has barely started but the facts are there. Couldn't beat dublin or galway and were lucky against offally who just came up and got battered in two previous games. I respect keith for taking this job despite a big transition coming. We all knew this was coming. Liam dunne broke the ice before davey took over but we all knew there was potential there. We dont see them players coming soon but all they can do now is persist with young lads.Unfortunately some players have never got that form back and have being crippled with injuries.they do say he leaves teams in a jock. More will go this year. Theres no other team around thats as reliant on one player as chin is. Division 2 will help blood new players and get confidence playing weaker teams while also better teams like dublin and clare. I was very disappointed with the support this year . Some tiny turnouts. The minor could give the county a much needed lift against limerick so hopefully the crowd gets behind them" We havent had decent turnouts outside of Croke Park in 30 odd years. Except for 1 Walsh Cup game I can't remember the last time the ground was full.

Replying To MyOhMi: "Why would we be watching JJ and Harriers this year - you think he is going to achieve something and then be a favourite candidate to replace Rossi?" I think he's already a candidate once the Harriers avoid a complete disaster.

Worth noting that players aged 24-26 played zero minutes on Saturday
From that age group, the only players I can think of who played either league or championship are James Lawlor, Niall Murphy, Charlie McGuckian, James Byrne, Eoin Murphy, Ross Banville, and Jack Doran
Can say the young players aren't coming through all you like but the the 20yos, 21yos, 22yo, and 23yos could be alright, it's those in the 24-26 age bracket who are likely the reason why we are struggling right now
Cork and Tipperary the best U20/U21 teams between 2019 and 2021, they seem to have picked up a good few players from those teams

I never quite understand what full means. I have serious doubts about capacity and attendance for those games

I wouldn't be kicking Keith out the door at all but I like to see a new hurling coach . The game plan Franks is trying to play with us doesn't suit us at all

Replying To Timbertony: "Bit of a shambles of a season in truth. Relegated in league and only being above Offaly and Antrim in Liam McCarthy is nothing to crow about. Tactically we were a mess and we continue season on season to fall further away from being genuinely competitive. Some of our younger lads are showing some positive signs of settling at this level. But we are missing that solid core of senior players in their mid 20s/30 to build a team around. Injury seems to have done for a few of them sadly and others only put it in when they feel like it. Until that's addressed we are at nothing." Not just this year, I posted stats here a few weeks ago. We've beaten Dublin once in something like 18 years, Garway similar.

JJ Doyle is not involved with the senior hurling set-up this year. Not involved with minor and wasn't involved with U20 either. Was talking to him at a Hurling 365 coaching thing he ran a couple of months ago, and he remarked how it was his first time in many years not to be involved with any of the teams outside of the development squads.

I didn't say he was involved, only that he was standing on the line with Rossi. Well, it looked like him, he was a water carrier.

We had 2 already in, Rory and Damien, brought in a couple more, but it took years for others to get called up. Alot of years S and C, nutrition, etc missed out on. Other lads in the "missing" age group you are talking about that played for Wexford at some Senior level include Cathal Doyle, Conall Clancy, Mike Kelly, Conor Mahoney, Mark Byrne, and Josh Shiel. None of them got any kind of extended chance though.
