Leinster Hurling Championship 2024

I think this is the only draw that ensures that Provincial finalists or Provincial winners cant meet again until the final

Laois/ Offaly/ Wexford/ Clare/ Limerick V Kilkenny/ Dublin

Laois/ Offaly/Cork/ Dublin/ Kilkenny V LImerick/ Clare

I think we need to know the draw before the matches are played

The GAA might make up some rubbish to keep all the so called stronger teams in it.

Otherwise I think that the draw shown above ensures that finalists cant meet each other - so that could and should be it.

If they try change that we should object. The GAA need to call it before it happens so we aren't victim to some made up rule

Usually the draws for any competition aren't made until the teams are known. For example the Minor QF draw was only made on Monday.

You lose the jeopardy then it just becomes like the football champ

Knock-out provincials (and anybody can enter, including Kerry in the Munster championship where they belong) and you can have 6-7-8 teams in Leinster. Seed the previous years semi-finalists.
Then, have 2 x groups of 6 after that. 1 team relegated each year.
The round robin is great in Munster but it very much suits only the Munster teams and mark my words if Wexford or Dublin ship a beating (assuming both play in them), it'll be "we need 4 Munster teams coming out, this isn't working". But then the jeopardy that the provincials are thriving on goes.
I will never understand how on earth the Leinster counties agreed to a system where only a Leinster county is relegated. If that was Wexford last year, why would that have been OK for them but Tipp win 1 game in 2 years and nothing happens? Its crazy stuff.

Replying To ExiledInWex:  "Rubbish.
So lets say Laois and Offaly win the next 2 Joe McDonagh cups and Carlow were not relegated. Do you think it is fair to have an 8 team Leinster championship? When are you playing all these matches? And what will that do to the Leinster counties to have to play more matches against weaker opposition when they come up against Munster opposition?"
There is absolutely nothing fair or accurate with the provincial system to decide the All-Ireland champions. Flawed badly. Two division with promotion and relegation as I stated. Bouncing Carlow now or promoting Laois until they dominate the Joe McDonagh is just moving the deck chairs around. Up and down year in year out with no advancement. Actually the GAA don't care just giving lip service and loading the coffers. I have said else where if provinces want a provincial championship use what ever means they want. Pick their top two in the All_Ireland series from their province to play a final.
I used a computer program over the winter scraping the league including the club championship with the previous years county champions representing allowed time for club games and a closed season in Nov., Dec., and Jan.

Strong Kilkenny team for the final. Donnelly, Carey and Mullen all start.

True. They're named in the starting 15, for what it's worth. It should be like the soccer, the starting 15 is given to the ref an hour before the throw in.

Tells you all you need to know about the Leinster hurling final when fellas are switching over on GAAGo to watch a Tailteann Cup game between Wicklow and Leitrim. Surely, Galway would have given Kilkenny a better game, even Wexford!

Dublin were like a club team out there today. Playing a short passing game like they've never practiced it once. Just awful.
Well done to the Cats!!

How can you say especially Wexford when you've won 1 Leinster in 20 years!

Went today hoping for a good game But by Jaysus that was pathetic from Dublin. Someone said hard luck to Dublin there was no hard luck they were a shambles never laid a hurl in Kilkenny. Kilkenny never got out of first gear. Zonal marking against Kilkenny what were they doing as for the keeper he's decent but the poor man had a mare. Mullins had the whole of croker to play with.

Cork will win next two games by 20 plus point

I was saying the exact same thing on the Hill today. Zonal marking my ass. It was madness.
Never got stuck in at all and a few times pulled out of tackles.... Shocking.

What struck me was how poor Dublins decision making was throughout. They constantly made the wrong pass or turn. KK savaged them and they nearly laid a glove on
