Replying To Ollie2:  "Put it in Croke Park as a double header with Louth and Kerry. Louth and Kerry at 2.00 pm with Armagh and Galway at 4.00 pm."
At max you would get is 30,000 at this double header. Galway will be safely through to the next round and fans will not travel. Armagh will bring 15,000. Louth would bring max 5,000 and Kerry fans will not travel.

All round 3 games should be played in provincial grounds. Better atmosphere will lead to better games.

No point having football games in Croke Park unless you can guarantee you will get 55,000+ fans

If Louth were playing in Croke Park they would bring more than 5000 supporters.

Replying To CiarraiMick:  "Yes and I presume you are referring to Dublin. You are correct but tbf that was agreed to by county boards. When the spring series was set up early around 2010 /11 some counties offered up their home game to play in croke park and were duly compensated for it financially. In fairness it worked a treat as croke park had massive crowds for Saturday night games. I know that on at least two occasions Kerry gave up home games v Dublin for league games but we're compensated. It was all above board and everyone was a winner."
Really? I actually never knew that. I know that while London got their venue renovated maybe a decade ago, it was agreed they'd play all their games at home one year and all away the next year (or maybe the other way around), and then occasionally a team might be punished by having to forfeit home advantage, but that was all I knew. Funny the media didn't comment more on Kerry moving their Dublin games to Croke Park.

What I did have in mind though was something I seem to remember years and years ago about Fermanagh having had 7 years of three home and four away games in the league in the previous 10 years. Of course I might be remembering that all wrong, but I'd say if you were to tally up every county's home and away counts, you'd get some shocking discrepancies, even accounting for cases such as your example of Kerry vs Dublin and teams being stripped of home advantage.

How many of ye went to Navan for the Cork game?

More than 5000 anyway. You see the last time Louth played Kerry in the Championship was back in 1950. So to see the best player in Ireland at the moment David Clifford playing against the Wee County in Croke Park would bring the Wee County supporters out in their thousands.

Replying To Seanfanbocht:  "Doubt if Mullingar would have capacity for an Armagh crowd.
Hyde or Breffni more likely."
There won't be a big crowd from either Galway or Armagh. I'd have no issue with Cavan, Longford or Mullingar, any of those grounds would be able for the crowd.

There was a total of 4,000 that attended Louth/Cork at the weekend.

The only feasible double header would be Galway v Armagh and Kildare v Roscommon

That would sell 50,000 seats but would have less than 35,000 watching each match, which would just be a poor atmosphere as the crowd would be lost

We should see a Croke Park fixture again until the Qfinals

Give Provincial towns and Stadia a boost instead of putting more money into Dublin where there's more than enough already.
15,000 in Breffni or Tullamore makes it an occasion with atmosphere etc unlike 25,000 scattered over 2 games in Croke Park.

Apologies, off topic a bit. Are there many neutral supporters in Dublin that would go to Croke Park? I lived in Swords in 2000 to 2005, went to some hurling and football games as a neutral. Just a short trip on the bus. Mighty way to spend the afternoon.

After last year's double header between Mayo v Kildare and Roscommon V Clare they should know its better not to have another double header in Croke Park unless its All Ireland Quarter finals then again lack of common sense is common for them.

Let's hope it's the biggest available pitch somewhere central! Cavan maybe? Clones? Although there's a fair few Ulster teams that be playing neutral venues same day I think.

I can recall the hurlers one time have to win or lose by a certain margin to get a league semi final place, but be unique for footballers I think to have to rake up a big score to advance. Assuming that Rossies will give Kildare a bit of a pasting.

It's a joke that the venues are known by now.
Messing people around (especially with the Current accommodation situation) will be reflected in poor attendances. Particularly with a Match the following week for 50% of teams
