I'll be able to see it on GAAGO. But yes a bizarre choice from RTE.

1927 Yankees were perfection! Babe and the boys. The Babe got 60 home runs, Lou Gehrig 47, and a pitching staff led by Hoyt. Yes, Limerick are that good. Could also have said Dubs footballers 2018 if i was to be parochial :-) BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 4550 - 18/04/2023 16:02:26 2471610 Link 1 |

3 big games this Sunday 2 Munster Hurling games and Galway/ Roscommon which was expected to be Galway/Mayo, whichever 1 RTE didn't show it was going to be a talking point.

They were excellent. But the 1906 Cubs were outstanding too. Yet inexplicably lost to the White Sox in the World Series.......

The 1906 Cubs had a winning percentage of .763, the highest ever in the modern era.

It's a bit strange that you should be talking about baseball today. It's a sport I've never got into. But I read an interesting article about the New York Yankees in today's Guardian. Think only one of Clare's hurling games is on rte,I know alot weren't happy with sky but shows rte have no interest in the early games.

I think most people think Waterford are going to set up extra defensively. I believe the opposite. They will go at Limerick with young Fitzgerald, Hutchison, Bennett and Kiely. Certainly if Gleeson had been available. Then try and hold them in the second half. Davy is trying to throw out diverse messages that I don't think anyone is going to fall for. Maybe I am way off but we will see. One way or they other it is a massive task and avoiding a heavy defeat would be the best you could hope for. Some other one in his backroom team says no one other than McNulty with the broken bone is missing. Playing one of the greatest teams ever and on the way to the greatest is something to look forward to. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 3249 - 18/04/2023 21:11:36 2471685 Link 0 |

But I remember the comments on Twitter etc being "hooray", "good riddance", and so on when Sky announced they were canceling their GAA coverage?

That's what made me think of the Yankees. i was in the old place, now replaced by a virtual facsimile across the street, during the last season in 2008. It is a great sport, and one with great history and writers. Unfortunately very difficult to follow here unless you are an insomniac! i mean the game times, not the vile allegation of it being boring. Not from me. Sky were streets ahead of RTE. TG4 are too even though what Irish I know could be written down on a sheet of paper.

It is a great game Barney. This year's rule changes should make it better too. And take up less time.

That was only from certain people though, hopefully GAAGO up the production standard this year.

Thanks Katser but you can't look past Limerick/Tipp/Cork in Munster if Waterford had a full hand they could well be dangerous. We simply have to get a result on Sunday if we are going to Gaelic Grounds with a loss on our backs we will be in trouble Limerick have the best possible panel available to them won the league in 3rd Gear there biggest problem is in picking the best 15 if teams continue to if teams keep letting them set the terms you have no chance. In leinster i suppose KK Galway & Wexford its great to have hurling back some very good underage games as well clooney (Clare) - Posts: 1009 - 19/04/2023 11:07:44 2471751 Link 1 |

Rather wishful thinking there Katser. *VERY BIG IF* Waterford could somehow overcome Limerick in the opener, it might embolden the other counties to have a go at them. The Deise are better than their most recent results would suggest and Davy is overdue pulling off a coup. I predict Limerick Clare Cork (Still team most likely to topple Limerick I think. I don't rate Tipp' anywhere near as highly as some pundits). Galway Kilkenny Dublin Triffic (Galway) - Posts: 188 - 19/04/2023 13:04:51 2471776 Link 1 |
