I'd like to congratulate Jarlath on becoming Uachtarán CLG.

He was the Príomhoide at the Gaeltacht I went to in 1999 and a smashing player for Armagh.

Comhghairdeas leis.

Fair play and congratulations to him. A very smart man and a classy player in his time.

Time will tell. I wonder if he'll start the same carry on like a few years back of calling for the dropping of the Tricolour and national anthem at matches. He wasn't too popular with many in his own county last time round with such suggestions and fair play to them.

He wouldn't have been my chocie because of that carry on.

Jury is out. Started nonsense a few years back about abolishing the anthem before games and taking down flags. This was pure bunkum designed to play to certain elements up here who will never be placated. Hope he has binned that rubbish.

Well done and good luck Jarlath. A level headed guy who will make the right decisions as opposed to the popular ones.

Are those elements you? Seeing as you're never placated.

Well imho he can't be any worse than the last fella.

Always impressed me any time I've heard him even if I didn't agree with some of the things he said he always explained his reasons rationally and you could see where he was coming from so could look to jarlath burns.

Yep. And the same goes for all the other inter cultural nonsense. If our guests do not like ours, that's too bad.

We might see the new President in The Hyde today. He'll be welcome to Roscommon. Best of luck to him on a successful presidency.

In his first round of interviews he has already politicized the role, which hopefully is not a sign of things to come. There are enough issues to be dealt with within the game, never mind the intractable external politics. Stick to the brief, UCLG

That's not a progressive or helpful viewpoint when you consider a new Ireland, but, it is a view held by many unfortunately.

would keep the flags, would love to see the anthem gone except for finals. playing it over some shit speaker system in a nothing match is hardly respect for it, make it special. we are like the yanks when it come to anthems and the GAA, played at every game ffs. imagine the brits played theirs before every soccer league game, we would be doing nothing but slating and slagging them. only sports i can think of that do it are the american ones and gaa, dont even remember it when down in oz at NFL games or in NZ at rugby games. It dilutes its meaning played flat out, sure lets bring it back to nightclubs

In all honesty I've no interest in hearing a crap version of our anthem at every single game, finals definitely but dhia sabháil it's a joke at times. and we laugh at the Brits during poppy season and the Americans crying at their anthem at the Superbowl and here we are precious about the anthem being played out over a crap sound system in the rain and wind

the flag though was nonsense craic, it's our flag. if we ever get to a point where we're in a United Ireland situation and that is "on the table" as creating a new flag for a new country, let's talk about it then. But until then, no dice.

I like listening to Jarlath though I think he's a very intelligent and articulate man, agus Gaeilgóir fósta, he has ideas and a bit of vision so I think there is potential for his presidency to be transformational, at least I hope so.

we dont need the anthem before every game. keep it for finals and big occasions. not every single game.
