A couple of other anomalies of the double headers are if you buy your ticket after the first match finishes, will it be 10 euro? ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1102 - 24/06/2022 14:52:59 2427283 Link 0 |
I know what you're getting at, but in fairness that was never the case, even with cash payments. If it was €10 cash for entry to a double header, and you only arrived after the first match was already over, there was no discount to go in only for the second game. You still paid €10. And likewise, if you paid €10 cash before the first game and then decided not to wait for the second, you didn't get a partial refund on the way out. Heard Lee Chin is out for 8 weeks? Is this true? Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 11474 - 24/06/2022 21:39:12 2427339 Link 0 |
As I said before, my father always said the gateman always had money for a pint.

Give the clubs a few hundred tickets for these people, what the clubs don't return at the end of the championship they pay for........like the shops with the news papers. Someone from the club could even sell a few tickets at gate. WEX98 (Wexford) - Posts: 374 - 25/06/2022 14:18:35 2427392 Link 0 |
Tickets got for Bellefield. Can't wait! Hope the rain stays away! Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 11474 - 26/06/2022 15:14:32 2427576 Link 0 |
Awful first half in the 1st game in Bellefield. Taghmon came to life at the start of the second half, after trailing by 3 at half time albeit against the wind, with Chris Cullen in great scoring form getting 1-3 from play. Good value for their 8 point win in the end. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 11474 - 26/06/2022 20:57:45 2427774 Link 0 |
I thought Declan Buggy covered every blade of grass for Oulart, and has been an excellent addition. Ian Carty was the launch pad for most of Taghmon's attacks, and Patrick O'Connor is in the top bracket of freetakers across all the grades. As an aside, does anyone know what development work they are doing in Bellefield? The last section of old concrete seating at the dressing room entrance has been demolished. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1407 - 27/06/2022 09:03:02 2427834 Link 0 |
I'd say many club people would rather go to the game than stand outside selling tickets.......?

Not sure about the development work but it seemed a strange time of year to be doing it Beano. I suppose that kind of work needs good weather though. Ian Carthy seemed out of sorts in the 1st half but really came good in the 2nd. Stephen O'Gorman also. Adam Sinnott and Barry O'Gorman played well too. Not sure if Patrick O Connor hit a free wide but a couple of long frees dropped short in the 2nd half but that was against the wind. Very accurate. Buggy played well for Oulart and linked the defense and attack for them. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 11474 - 27/06/2022 10:33:22 2427891 Link 0 |

Who is managing Oulart this year? Past hurler (None) - Posts: 707 - 27/06/2022 14:00:37 2428005 Link 0 |
I taught it was a reasonable solution for club members that can't manage how the world works now. Give your club secretary a €10, he/she gives you a ticket. WEX98 (Wexford) - Posts: 374 - 27/06/2022 14:08:30 2428012 Link 0 |
It's not exactly development work, even though it'll take some redevelopment work to fix it. The wall there just collapsed about six weeks ago. They were extremely lucky the ground was empty when it collapsed. Some of those large chunks of concrete could have caused serious injury or even killed somebody if there'd been anybody sitting there when they came tumbling down. Well it it a solution but I don't get why the county board couldn't just have somebody there selling tickets, so I go up and give them a tenner I get my ticket in return. Then the money has to be accounted for. Failing that, why not have Centra and Supervalu selling them? ExiledInWex (Dublin) - Posts: 1102 - 27/06/2022 14:39:05 2428025 Link 0 |

Everyone these days are trying to cut costs and operate as lean as possible the county board is no different. Removing the use of cash and tracking it makes everything far more efficient and safer. I would say insurance costs also feature in this in particular for bigger games. That's the world we live in now and there is no going back, will it suit 100% no, but if they didn't do it a lot of people would not change voluntary. I know of one person in her 90s who knows how to use a smartphone and an ipad but she won't be going to any games! Every time something like this comes up, the usual response is but what about the old people - how are these old people getting to the games in the first place, if its a lift then they are already dependent on someone and if they are driving then people are saying they are too old to operate a phone or computer but not a car. I love having cash but these days rarely use it.
