Replying To Farney2022:  "Imagine someone who claims to be a Monaghan supporter being negative about Rory Beggan, talk about being spoiled..wait until you see us without him"
They said the same about paddy Linden back in the day

Who came on for him in 2020 after the black card? He's started the last 123 games…

Beggan is a massive loss if he goes but lets be grateful we had him for 10 years. He wasnt going to play for monaghan forever as neither will the Hughes boys or mcmanus. Karl Gallagher a bigger loss in a different way as we will miss out now on his best years. Team will need new leaders we saw mccarthy take on this mantle last year will need others to step up now. A lot of faith this will happen we have a good core bunch there. Vinny arguably overachieved last year so supporters will need to be patient but we are in good hands.

Replying To Bernardo:  "With that attitude it is no wonder 2015 is the last time Monaghan won Ulster. Beggan is a top class goalkeeper but he tends to wilt with the pressure of croke park.

Awful pity this group have not won more Ulsters because moral victories are soon forgotten.

The Monaghan team of the 1940s was regarded as the best team in Ulster after Cavan but no Ulster medals so are forgotten ."
Ah here...... Did he 'wilt at the pressure' of Croke Park when saving two penalties in the all ireland QF?

agree with everything here. The most recent batch of leaders (mansy, hughes x2 wylie x2, walsh etc) stood up about 10 years ago when the likes of lennon, freeman, finlay and clerkin were all hitting their latter years

we need the likes of mccarthy, ward, mcanespie, bannigan, woods, jones etc to stand up now...be great if we could get Kearns home too

id love to see Vinny give mccarthy captaincy. he speaks really well and can certainly lead by example

Where would you play woods!? Also, I thought McCarville was v good for Scotstown in their Ulster club games. Looked very trim.

For me woods starts inside, Gallagher might not be there mansy won't start league games I doubt , Woods for me is a top player. Mccarville has a chance to play 2 .

Hard to believe clubs are out training already yet the season doesn't start for at least 4 months. Any news on new managers comings and goings? Clontibret and Ballybay seem to be struggling to get new managers. Both clubs been successful over the last years but aging squads. Latton new manager, inniskeen, scotstown, corduff, cremartin, same managers also Donaghmoyne looking new manager and not sure about Annaghmullen

Woods has to start inside to give us a target to hit and then the currin man and Jones could feed off him..McManus can't see any action in the league need him wrapped in cotton wool for the championship… 10 years in div 1 has done us zero favours come championship so I wouldn't worry about regelation.. leagues are for playing in and championships are for wining… obsession about dive 1 and pitch invasion invasions after run of the mill league games count for zero come the white heat of championship as has been proved time and time again…

1980s football there… big man inside and feed off him. Laughable stuff.

With Beggan most likely gone thats 1 of our main scoring threats gone.. teams won't be afraid to foul us 60/70 Yards from goals anymore and it will give a chance to reset defensively…if we persist with the ponderous lateral passing and teams suck us into a blanket we will be very easy to play against…

Is anyone else annoyed that Monaghan social media pages has turned into a part time death notice page.

I think the page should be dedicated to the GAA activities in the county and not RIP.ie

When you start putting death notices for people on the page, it leaves you open to missing someone who might be deserving of it in the future.

Will be very hard to top 2023 you would imagine, after all we went to the last four and survived in D1. The big thing I'm hoping for is more consistency and ruthlessness in our performance, Derry, armagh and to a lesser extent dublin all examples last year of monaghan being to conservative and not pushing on in games. Team is entering a transition phase but v Corey is right man to steer it

Damien Comer plays this way for Galway.

If Kieran Donaghy was back in his prime today you can believe we would be seeing the balls pumped in long to the big man in the square - gameplans are built around the best players available, unless you're just another one who only knows to grill his players, run them into the ground and get them all to track back.

Totally agree. No medals won since 2015. History only vaguely remembers the medal winners. Ulster is our best chance - but the draw was not kind
