Boidu isn't. Sure Corroon wasn't playing last year if I recall. May struggle to make the first 15 anyhow. Plenty of new lads to step up and time for fresh blood anyways. I hope Fola starts at midfield on Sunday. I'd like to see Ray in the half forward line.

Corroon was outstanding in the win against Laois - so he certainly was playing.

Sorry; my mistake. It must have been the previous year when he wasn't involved.

Disappointing display on Sunday last versus Cavan in a challenge game. Beaten 1-18 to 0-12. Our opening matches in division three are all very winnable with Wicklow and Longford to play. We're probably too good for division 3 but could struggle in division 2. Definitely a need to introduce 4-5 players in their early 20s to the playing squad as a core of key players are unlikely to be playing at this level in 3-4 years.

As of yet ger Egan is not in with the rest of the panel. No confirmation as to whether he has opted in or out

Boidu is gone think his own decision, Egan is not in there at the minute anyways and didn't hear anything about corroon

if this is true it will greatly reduce our chances of promotion . ger is a driving force of the team . i also think the retirement of dennis corroon is also a huge loss

I don't agree Mick, Ger's performances in the past for club and county have been outstanding, he has given superb service to Westmeath but his levels at inter county have dropped a notch in the past 12-18 months. He's had significant injury issues and Tyrrellspass will prob benefit from a reduced workload if he has left the county scene. Denis Coroon has also given excellent service, he and Ger are prob close to 30 and the commitment at county level is very demanding.

Corroon more like 32 I reckon. He played championship for Westmeath as far back as 2009.

None. Majority of county's have there's named already but it's typical cooney and the named 15 will be changed before the game tommorrow.
10 euro into the game for adults students and oaps tommorrow which is steep for students and oaps which once again is Westmeath putting the paw out looking for money… what happened to the money that was "raised for the development of cusack park " I don't think cusack park seen any of it by the looks of it !

I really hope Egan is back at some stage. He was pound for pound the best footballer in the county for the two years prior to his horrific injury. On his day he is as good a forward as anyone in the country. He is physically fit and strong, a good scorer from distance, has a great football brain and a great leader. I don't know him personally but the man has given great service to the county at senior level since he was 18 and I hope his absence is a short one.

A bit far to say now that Egan on his day is a good as any player in the country heslin is the only player in that category. Great to see Alex Gardiner starting he is arguably at present after heslin the best footballer in Westmeath .

In those two years prior to his injury he was. Heslin wouldn't have been at the top of his game in that period. Especially 2019 when we won Division 3. Egan was our main man up front throughout the whole league that year both with and without heslin in the team. He was racking up scores from play and dead balls and rarely missed a free. The injury he got that summer should have finished his career and I know he may not or will never be the same player as before the injury but I would much prefer a 50% version of pre injury Ger Egan available than no Ger Egan.

I wouldn't be too worried first league game of the year against Wicklow, if we didn't see Ger Egan for another 3 or 4 games what about it. We know what he offers and he has been injured probably needs time he is 31 this year probably needs to be managed better. These league games should be building blocks and adding fresh blood. Team is refreshing to see a few names still don't know why he insists on playing lynch at wing forward you have 3 marksmen inside they need service from the middle third.

Just home from the park. Strange game to say the least. We did not look anywhere near the pace for 20 minutes. Wicklow played direct football and worried us. Nigel Harte played very well when he came on. We took control in the 2nd half. Ronan Wallace was outstanding. He has turned into a fabulous player. The team needs games but this win will bring them on
