Replying To Claretandblue:  "High scoring game last night in Wicklow with Sean Leech the difference between the sides. He's certainly worthy of a senior call up but he's a Leaving C student and prob better to wait until his exams are over. 2-3 from play last night and his pace is a huge asset. Away quarter final next Thursday in Parnell Park which will be difficult, defensively we need to tighten up as Dublin will score at will based on last night. Attacking wise we have lots of potential with Devin Hill, Senan Baker, Matthew Whittaker and Ben McGauran."
Great win ,we were only under pressure inside defensively in the first half because we were being overran at midfield and we had runners coming from deep not being tracked, their corner back scored two from play in the first half where he was let forward untracked. Dylan Murtagh improved the midfield when he came on

Game of two halves in Parnell Park. Fantastic first half display. Dylan Murtagh didn't start despite impressing against Wicklow. Superb first half display with Adam Treanor and Senan Baker outstanding. Seven points looked a decent lead but credit to Dubs who took over completely. Subs were introduced but we just couldn't regain control. Interesting to see how Dublin fare in Leinster. Some supporters felt their goal was a square ball infringement but hard to say.

Keepers positioning was poor for the goal . Few lads who in all games have been good when we on top but don't work hard enough when the pressure comes on . It was one that was left behind as Dublin looked very poor in the first half .We could have made a few changes earlier rather than when we had lost all momentum

We made three changes within 5-6 mins of half time so not sure could any more have been done. Three out of our four subs had been used while we were still in the lead. There was no need for changes prior to this as we were in control. Dublin hit a purple patch very early in second half and management then responded. Not sure had we any other options on the bench to change momentum. Dublin's physicality had an undoubted impact as the game wore on. At this level momentum is very difficult to change. If Dublin go on to All Ireland series and perform well our performance will look even better. Seems likely management team will stay on and that would be helpful.

Agree with some of that but regardless a game left behind which is a pity

Seems to be a problem at minor level I don't know if it's systematic or management. Should the same management work from u-15 up or does that close the door on players who develop later. I don't think there is any selectors or selection committee who watch minor games and pick players for the following year. Selection process seems to have failed. At minor level there should be as big as a gap as what we're seeing.

Championship week for our footballers. Are people confident that we can beat Longford? On paper we should but they did came to mullingar in the league and beat us by 4 points.

Yeah hard to believe championship is upon us.
What's the latest from the camp - didn't hear about any challenge games but I'm sure there were some.
I wonder where James Dolan and Ger Egan are in terms of getting back ?
I believe Ronan O'Toole was playing through an injury in the league, hopefully he is on the mend.

Results this weekend certainly will prevent any complacency, teams in lower divisions or inferior league form winning. Wicklow, Cavan, Wexford, even Donegal had a worse league than Armagh. Ger Egan back which is a boost, impressed in challenge match vs Tipperary. We also played Down. Longford will be quietly confident and there should be a decent crowd.

how can we be complacent . we were well beaten and bullied by longford in the league , this time we have the lionhearted ger egan back which is a help . we have to man up on saturday evening . any hint of slackness will suit longford who will be very confident of a win

What was the team that went out in the league against Longford and what will it be for Saturday at 6.

Team vs Longford in 2022 league

J Daly
J Smith
K Maguire
D Giles
N Harte
R Wallace
S McCartan
S Duncan
J Lynam
D Lynch
R O Toole
L Dolan
L Loughlin
J Heslin
A Gardiner

Subs:
S Baker
S Allen
K Martin
TJ Cox
R Forde

Can't see besides Ger Egan how much better this starting 15 can get?

Unfortunately we are very weak at the back. Smith, Maguire and Wallace are the only 3 county standard backs in the squad. James Dolan also is but he doesn't seem like he will be fit for the weekend and played no league

Decent looking team Mick, you might let Jack know !!
Big ask of Ger Egan, presume he has played some challenges over the last few weeks.
So subs would be the likes of Kieran Martin, David Lynch, David Giles, Lorcan Dolan, Robbie Forde.

How would Ger Egan start ,he never kicked a ball in the league

Don't think he needs to have played in the league, in my opinion he's very important to the team and if he is fit he starts.
I would have thought that all his rehab was targeting the Longford game but it depends how he got in recent challenges.
Impact sub might be more sensible if he doesn't have much game time under his belt.
Not much else to debate about regarding the rest of the team. Presume Heslin starts at 14 but will drift in and out.

Playing a couple of challenge games having been out injured for six months is no preparation for inter county championship game. Ger's form in recent years has been decent but certainly not at the stellar heights of 3-4 years ago when he was our most crucial player. I'd hope he's introduced as a vital impact sub with a view to starting in our next game.

The question I pose is this. Will we have improved sufficiently to beat longford. Its debatable. I would hope that all our players will play to a high standard on Saturday. We are well capable of winning but longford people I know are quite confident of victory. So can we win

Fairly poor bench when you look at other teams what they can spring off the bench, forde is the only guy here who bring something off the bench the rest are sub standard to there starting counterparts.
