Replying To Fionn:  "I was at the Dublin SFC Semi Final in The Neller earlier, and although a lot of the talk will be of King Con's performance, for me, Mick Fitz was an absolute Rolls Royce.

Full Back, Centre Back, Midfield to mark Jamesie, and at times Fitzer was play-maker in the half forwards also.
He was gliding over the pitch. What a player. And looked as fresh as a daisy after the game.

Truly hope Cuala can win the Dublin SFC now. Love to see him win it, and Cuala's first.

As for BK - end of an era I fear.
This Golden Generation have only won 2 Dublin SFC, which is an under achievement for the players of recent years.
I know the Dublin players have gone back to the club shattered after the county exploits but still......
BK definitely should have won more imo. It is a real shame."
Great post Fionn! Agrè with all! The biggest sickner for me though is not winning the AI in 2013! 8 points up at one stage, still sick over that!

The one thing BK have though, and there's not enough made about it. Is that just before Philly retired they'd have played games where there was over 40 medals on the pitch! I remember in thee mid 80s, Austin Stacks in Kerry had about 25! And people believed that would never be equalled!

I was at that AI Final - I was sure BK had it won.
Some bad wides, and even DR missed an easy one or 2, from what I recall.
I was gutted and I honestly felt BK threw it away that day.

They should have made won more Dublin SFC's and made it to another AI Final with the players they have had.
But the Dublin players, as I have said many times, returned to the club either injured or wrecked from the county exertions.

I agree with you though - that AI Final was a very difficult one to take and still is.

Two hurling semi finals will probably go as predicted. Na Fianna are just a bit above everyone at moment and might beat Vinnies with a bit to spare. Vinnies, however, will go down with boots on and if Hedger and Burke and a few of the other main lads have a good day might be a bit closer.

Crokes and Lucan potentially more a surprise. Crokes on paper with so many county lads up front in particular look lethal but can be hot and cold. Like Dublin! Sarsfields on other hand have a steely defence with Crummy at the centre of it so some intriguing match ups.

Crokes more than likely win to set up what will be the final most neutrals would pay to see, Good conditions today with little or no wind to skew things.

Anyone any thoughts James Maddens return? Not much being made about it. I don't know much about him. I do remember a big fuss being made about his loss though. He's a big lad with great speed I belive. Could he make a difference?

Crokes laid down a marker at the weekend.

A repeat of this in the Final v NF, and Crokes will win it with a bit to spare.

Vinnies really put it up to NF and the deficit after extra time shows how close this game was.
NF have a couple of injuries now in advance of the Final in 2 weeks also.

The double in on for Crokes.... but I really hope Cuala win the Football Final.

Crokes looked quite impressive in easily defeating Lucan who looked way out of their depth other than the two Crummys and one or two others.

Vinnies will be kicking themselves as they had the chance to beat Na Fianna other than for some atrocious shooting and missed frees. Na Fianna showed a lot of the jitters that haunted them in previous years. Outfought and outmuscled and difference really was getting what I thought were the crucial calls on frees which Currie made the most of.

Final will be good and you'd have to fancy Crokes after yesterday.

Super performance by Cossie, who scored 10pts today, as Whitehall Colmcille won the Dublin Senior 2 Football Championship Final beating Templeogue Synge Street by 0-12 to 1-08.

Good performance by Niall Scully, who scored 4pts of the TSS total.

On a side note, Still no sign of Lee Gannon back playing....

Gannon seems to have had several setbacks. He was huge loss to Dublin this year. Hope we see him again soon.

Looking forward to county final. Parnell should be packed and the Cuala ultras will be there.

I can see them pushing Crokes but on balance i don't think they have enough to win it. Hope im wrong.

Mick Fitz on Walsh be a key battle. I expect Con will be double marked with Rory never more than a shoulder away!

Absolutely delighted to be in Parnell Park earlier today to witness Cuala winning their 1st ever Dublin Senior Football Championship.

There was a massive crowd in the Neller, made up mainly of a more than sizable Cuala support.

Cuala were full value for this win. Led from the start and even had to finish the last 10mins of the game with only 14 men, when Con was sent to the line for an altercation with the Crokes goalie, who celebrated their goal, over zealously at Con,

MOTM was the imperious Mick Fitz. What a legend....!
Scored 2pts, the same from play as Paul Mannion and Shane Walsh.
Witnessing the celebrations of Mick Fitz at full time, one would think it was his 1st ever medal.
Such was this achievement for Cuala.

Cuala led by 6pts at one stage and went in at half time 5pts to the good.
The wind was causing havoc with the shooting throughout.

For me Cuala were the stand out team in this years Dublin Championship. they have been excellent.

Crokes, the 2/1 favourites for this game, got back into it with the goal but Cuala's 14 men kicked on again at the end.

Paul Mannion tried hard throughout but tbh Cuala were not to be stopped today.

Gonna be some celebrations tonight in Dalkey....

Maith sibh....!

The Kerry goalkeeper will have to find some other team for next year. Welcome to Dublin pal :-)

Wonder will Paul Galvin stay on with Kilmacud Crokes, now that RB is gone.?

TG4 mentioned that all of Cuala's team had come up through the underage ranks, which is great to see.
How many non-Dubs did Kilmacud have on the pitch?
A fully deserved win for Cuala yesterday. Fitzsimons was excellent and a lot of their unknown (to me) players put in huge performances. Con was kept fairly quiet and he'll be a relieved man they got over the line. I thought the double blow of Crokes' goal and his red card was the end of them, but they got stuck in and didn't let the momentum turn.
Even after getting the winning point from the free which dropped short, they stayed pushed up on the Crokes kickout. With 14 men at the end of the game and a point up, most teams would have dropped off and conceded the kickout. The ref was definitely going to give time for one more attack. But Cuala pushed up and forced the kickout long, won it and that was the game.
It'll be interesting to see how far they can go.

It was an heroic performance, I have great admiration in general for Crokes but they lost a lot of respect over the goalkeeping scenario.

I caught a glimpse of the Con incident from where I was around the 40 line on terrace side. Definitely a red card but was obvious and it was confirmed later that the Crokes lads including the Kerry lad in goal had been in his face "celebrating." I suspect there may have been one former Crokes star who had a wry smile on his face ,....

Cracking win for Cuala, to dig it out at the end when a man down was seriously ballsy. Not to rain on their parade by any stretch but was there a hint of an illegal handpass for the winner?? Didn't see much of a striking motion on the ball.

Given the celebrations that they are currently enjoying the last place they need to go the next day is Newbridge to face Naas or Celbridge. Naas will fancy going all the way in Leinster now this year with their old foes Crokes gone.

It was definitely somewhere between a strike and a throw, but he got away with it. He needed to get rid of it quickly or it would have been smothered. It just made it over the bar in the end, because of the wind and the height he had to put on it to avoid it being blocked.
Great to see risk taking rewarded though. He was the wing back, but had pushed up anticipating a breaking ball inside. If they lost that ball, they were ripe to be hit on the counter.
I wasn't aware they had the Kildare champions in the first round of Leinster. That will be very tough, especially if it's Naas. They're a seasoned outfit at this stage, with a lot of talent coming through as well. Without Con, it'll be an even bigger task.
