I think it's us country folk that go on about them like that rather than the Dubs themselves.

Good decision. He's done very well with Na Fianna and seems to have a good team around him. All of who know Dublin hurling scene from top to bottom and will have a good idea of what needs to be done both with the current senior set-up and to ensure solid connection to the underage structures. Donoghue deserves credit for his time but any outside manager is always going to have his eye on other prospects, not least with his own county. Be some battle in Parnell in April or May when Galway come to town! BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 14/09/2024 12:18:00 2569815 Link 1 |
Good win for Lucan in brilliant game yesterday against Na Fianna. Both still in quarter finals with Crokes and Vinnies taking the semi final places. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 15/09/2024 15:07:42 2569955 Link 1 |
Lucan made things difficult at times for themselves, great game though. Dubs tv gives some service.

Cuala turning out to be the surprise packet of the senior football championship. Just two years up from intermediate and with chance of first final since only appearance in late 80s. With Con on fire and Mick Fitz defying father time, might give Ballymun something to think about in semi. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 22/09/2024 08:03:44 2571236 Link 0 |
Hi looking for advice please. Out gaa club are recently giving our juveniles and teenagers a cold shoulder. Whereas previously kids would use the facilities example playing on astros or on occasion watching games in the hall or bar there seems to be push back now against this. What's everyone's predictions? Gearoid1998ffowaed (Galway) - Posts: 131 - 22/09/2024 19:07:37 2571294 Link 0 |
Mmmm. I could make a stab at the club you are referring to. Or maybe its a general pattern. I think its a good idea to allow juvenile members watch matches in bar or on big days in hall but let's be honest, Sundays and Saturdays in some clubs can be like child-minding where children roam about while Mammy and Daddy get jarred. Not saying this applies to your own club but its not uncommon. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 22/09/2024 19:33:20 2571301 Link 0 |
Going to make wild stab and say none of them have a hope of winning Dublin SFC :-)

That Shane Walsh lad has a lot to answer for!

Not really an issue in the club they don't serve food and it's quiet generally

Might be just a general trend towards this. Maybe DCB have asked clubs? No idea to be honest. Would be bad lookout if club bars were stopping children. Need to enforce proper safety etc and be flexible on big days but children shouldn't be in bars after 6 imho.

Hurling quarter finals today look like they'll be played in a monsoon if forecast if right. Will impact on the games but not enough I think to stop both heavy favourites Lucan Sarsfields and Na Fianna from getting to semis. Maybe less comfortably than predicted. No surprises in the 2 games played apart maybe from the margin of victories.thought na fianna looked to be better than they were last year.very strong half back line brilliantly led by Liam Rushe.Brian Ryan very good at midfield and highly impressive forwards.I think the younger players are huge for them..Lucan wouldn't be one of the better known clubs but I thought they were excellent in the second half and will be a right handful for semi opponents..has the semi draw been decided yet??looking forward to seeing those 2 matches.. Na Fianna v Vincents Crokes v Lucan Na Fianna very impressive. If they win Dublin which I think they will they might make a right go of winning Leinster with the shock departure of Ballyhale. Was sitting pretty close to Ó Ceallacháin and interesting to watch the level and nature of his contact with the players on pitch. Fascinating to watch. Ran Ballyboden ragged for just long enough to put game beyond them. Rushie as you say was his usual self. Played as a virtual sweeper. Always in right place, nearly always wins the ball and makes it look as though he has all the time in world to pick out pass. One of the greatest we've had. Be great to see him winning a bit pot. Interesting too that it was Currie rather than Donal on frees mostly. Wonder will we see a shared role with Dublin too? BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 30/09/2024 08:57:31 2572460 Link 0 |
Was strange not seeing Burke on frees who had a quiet enough afternoon, Currie's freetaking was excellent throughout though. That said they pretty much won the championship last year without Burke. Na Dianna looked good but ballyboden have slipped a lot recently.

Might be that Currie will be left on closer freisin. Seems to favour ones from left too. Burke got one from huge distance in second half. Strange not seeing Keaney even as sub. Still way too reliant on older lads like Simon and Ryan. Na Fianna underage success starting to pay real dividends now. Hopefully this will boost county team too. I was at the Dublin SFC Semi Final in The Neller earlier, and although a lot of the talk will be of King Con's performance, for me, Mick Fitz was an absolute Rolls Royce. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3975 - 05/10/2024 21:26:10 2573192 Link 0 |
