Wins for Clonkill and Raharney today I think. Will go down to last weekend to see final placings. Greenandgoldie (Westmeath) - Posts: 154 - 20/08/2023 11:44:13 2501424 Link 0 |
Clonkill were ruthless against Daltons. Peaking at the right time too. Mitchell due back next week. Greenandgoldie (Westmeath) - Posts: 154 - 20/08/2023 16:46:35 2501446 Link 0 |
Don't know who's over clonkill this year but his interview with radio 3 was very disrespectful to Fr Daltons... Saying he was disappointed with performance when scoring that amount...... Strange interview to say the least Greenandgoldie (Westmeath) - Posts: 154 - 20/08/2023 17:33:46 2501452 Link 0 |
Very heavy defeat for Fr Daltons today but one player I've been very impressed with in all the games for them has been Jack Kearney. Good first touch, excellent passing, great strike and very clever with his usage of the ball. He should be on Joe Fortunes radar. If clonkill beat raharney it goes to score difference. Clonkill seem best placed to finish 2nd. If gaels Lose to CTG like they did today, they could end up 4th and knocked out.?

Some serious competitive games left in the Senior B. All to play for really in the relegation battle, a three-way of epic proportions. Anyone could face the drop. Will it be the fancied Delvin team whose stars are no longer shining brightly? Will it be Brownstown, the Archerstown outfit, whose boys have been missing the target? Will it be Cullion? Hard to think Clonkill will beat Raharney based on today's performances, Clonkill still look unsure of their best team, Raharney were fantastic in parts, blew the Gaels away, serious blow to the Gaels who are depending on Raharney beating Clonkill as their score difference suffered today. Well said. Who do you think will go down

Very hard to call, Brownstown v Plunkett's Delvin v Ringtown Cullion v Wood. Depends how much fight is in the 3 bottom teams on the last day, Cullion on 3 points, Delvin Brownstown on 2..... I've a feeling 1 of them, (only) will get a win, Bigjoe1 (Westmeath) - Posts: 61 - 20/08/2023 20:07:29 2501492 Link 0 |
Clonkill to dispose of Raharney, westmeathgaa11 (Westmeath) - Posts: 308 - 20/08/2023 21:56:53 2501503 Link 0 |
No idea how any poster who was in Cusack today can fancy Clonkill to beat Raharney. Clonkill did annihilate Dalton's and have improved but still look like they have the wrong mix of veterans like Andrew Mitchell, Brendan Murtagh, Mark Keegan, Alan McGrath and Paddy Dowdall alongside young players like Andrew Shaw, Oisin Loughlin and Rian Holding. It's hard to win championships with that age mix, not enough lads in mid to late 20s, Jordy Smyth got injured today as is Niall Dowdall and their bench options look inexperienced, Josh Murtagh barely back from injury, a lot depends on Niall Mitchell returning match sharp, Raharney totally dominated the Collinstown men, full strength team with two superb Grevilles back and Jamie Mulkerrins, Ciaran Doyle was quality and Eamon Cunneen, Joseph Boyle, Cillian Doyle and Cormac Boyle excellent too. Raharney have big incentive as a win puts them in final while defeat means almost certainly facing Clonkill again in semi presuming Castletown beat the Gaels. Are these last round games taking place weekend of September first or is there a double football weekend like i have heard?

Fr. Daltons played in the Westmeath SHC yesterday. Just wondering where are they based? thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1879 - 21/08/2023 11:10:40 2501540 Link 0 |
Ballymore but have players from most football clubs surrounding them (Maryland, Tang, Rosemount, Milltown etc)

Great work done in this area at underage level by a few dedicated people, it's tough for their senior side with up to five football clubs involved in various championships and likes Of Tang, Milltown, Ballymore have strong interest left in championships and fatigue definitely setting in as seen yesterday. They unlikely to beat Castlepollard twice to stay senior but have done well in most games. Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 2093 - 21/08/2023 12:22:03 2501569 Link 0 |
A lot of valid points. But clonkill have a knack at coming good at the right time. It's hard to see Clonkill not being in the shake up. I think that will drive them on. Heard their manager say he's no update on the return of niall Mitchell on radio yesterday do that wouldn't bode well for him playing...

It would be not far short of miraculous if Clonkill manage to win the championship with their current panel of players. Three men in their forties, 4-5 younger players barely out of their teens, key forwards injured as mentioned earlier, defenders playing in the forwards, that's regardless of Mitchell playing or not, they have to beat Raharney twice and then probably Castletown to win title, that's extremely unlikely based on performances thus far. The age profile of both Castletown and Raharney is ideal for winning championships, Devin Hill, Brian McHugh and Rory Keyes didn't start for Raharney yesterday, David Lynch, Peter Murphy and Joe Clarke were Castletown subs on Saturday. Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 2093 - 21/08/2023 13:55:40 2501606 Link 0 |
Castletown's panel is still strong despite missing Mick Heeney, Conor Kane, and Liam Varley. Peter Murphy and Sean Jackson are great young talents and will be brought into the senior team by the end of the championship. Raharney have similar options to Castletown like you said. Most likely going to be a Castletown Raharney final unless the Gaels get the Jogger back. They were poor vs Raharney though. I think Clonkill will miss out on a semi final spot. castlepollard biggest problem is their supporters bet a weakend castletown geoghean side in the league final and also weakend Raharney side in first round of the league and were talking about county finals with 4 games remaining seems like same thing with them every year win one big game and on about winning championships never live up to it when matters fireplace69 (Westmeath) - Posts: 23 - 21/08/2023 22:45:56 2501701 Link 0 |
