Getting Killian Doyle, Niall Mitchell, Aonghus Clarke, Liam Varley, Josh Coll etc all back involved as well as adding some of the up and coming talent like Peter Clarke, Darragh McCormack, David O'Reilly, David Williams, would make a big difference to the panel and give Fortune plenty to work with.

Replying To Claretandblue:  "We were relegated fairly and squarely, Antrim gave us a lesson in Cusack Park, anyone who thinks we deserved to stay up is unrealistic, doubt Fortune will stay beyond year three"
Why did the county board give him an extension then

Shane Williams is also having a very good championship for Lough Lene Gaels so far, he'd be worth bringing back into the fold too.

The county board gave him an extension because he's done well over 2 years and is well regarded by players. I made a point about deserving to be relegated on basis of performances in championship, think it's valid.

Liam Varley is in Australia and not even hurling with Castletown, hardly worth mentioning him as part of the squad.

Wouldn't be surprised if he featured for CTG by the end of the championship

How long has he gone? Joe O Connor took a long while to get back up to speed after being in Australia for a year.

I'd say there's Zero chance of Liam Varley featuring for Castletown in this year's championship.

There's a good enough team there. If lads don't want to commit for a year and travel then more power to them.

And 0% of playing with Westmeath.Lets be honest he for whatever reason never committed to intercounty hurling which with its demands are not easy to live with.

I'd be leaving them young lads that are still u-20 well alone, it's a problem in this county of pushing young lads into senior. Liam Varley hasn't played county senior in at least 5 years, and he's only been in Oz less than a year, draw your own conclusions on that. The other lads could be back next year or could go travelling, who'd blame them?

It might be a problem in the county but the reality is at least 1 of those young players will be called into the football panel if the hurlers dont bring him on.

We don't have the luxury of that unfortunately. If they're good enough then there old enough

A couple of big games this weekend.
County final spot up for grabs between Raharney and LLG with a Raharney win almost guaranteeing them top spot.
Meanwhile a loss for Castlepollard will end their championship campaign for 2023.
Clonkill +9
CTG + 8
Raharney +5

Castletown comprehensive winners over Pollard. They looked good and could be hitting form again at the right time, solid spread of scorers. David O'Reilly is a class act.

And with Plunketts beating Delvin, and The Wood beating Ringtown that's the top 3 in senior B sorted with placings to be decided in the last round (Cullion can draw level on points with Ringtown but head to head puts Ringtown through if it comes to it). Delvin, Brownstown & Cullion out of it and fighting relegation.

CG were very good but on the other hand Castlepollard a very poor team, so it's hard to read too much into it. Bigger tests ahead.
