Cant find too many positives or green shoots with that game! And add in wexford beating Kildare… not good!. We look an average div 4 team.

Look on the bright side, at least we have the hurler's game with the Cats to look forward to.

Considering the hurlers arrived home from Morocco at 2am on Thursday morning I'm not really expecting a bright side from this game. Could be ugly even with an experimental KK team. I remember in 2019 we put a hugh effort into pre season for league & Leinster Championship as we knew there was a hugh step up. I feel we are really under cooked this time . Now I know the lads fully deserved to celebrate the Joe Mac win & have a holiday but I just feel we are playing catch up already. I remember in 2019 we drew with Galway in the league & we were flying. Just feel we won't be ready for league this year but hopefully come Championship we be at it.

I don't think that's a bad thing, to be honest. They can't keep going at full pelt from now til Leinster championship. We don't have the numbers for that. This gradual approach might be the better option. Time will tell.

I agree. We looked poor against kildare. I honestly don't think this manager has much more to offer. Need someone like Joe Murphy in. Hopefully next season.

Poor enough start for the football, is conor crowley going to be part of the panel I heard he is injured possibly longterm. Without him our threat up front is minimal. Hopefully now the 20s is over a few of those lads will be brought up too, there is no marquee forward out there though, and the talent in general is not of a high standard but in a good set up they can be improved

Good win for eire og last night in the u20s final. They made some crucial changes and it made a difference, pal went with same plan as the last day and that possibly cost them.

Seems the hurling game is off I see the crowd filtering out.

I think we all agree that the players and management deserved fully to celebrate the Joe Mc win. That should go without saying.
The Walsh Cup is just a fore runner for the league.
If we are slightly behind where we were a few years ago at this stage then so be it.
I think Tom Mullally knows the players very well and understands how they tick and will know when to push the buttons to get the performances we hope for in the coming months

This set of players have given a lot to the county Jersey and deserve respect. It will be a time issue of getting the timing right over the next while. Hopefully all the players will stay the course and the younger players will be hungry to make a mark.
Some of these lads have been on minor and under 20 squads and got game time last year but there will be a big step up required this year.

They could've been running up and down Mount Leinster 3 times a week since November, and hurling the other 2 nights of the week, for all any of us know. I agree 100% Mulally will know what he's doing also.

A very heavy beating last night as Dereck Lyng and his KK team really put up a huge score to our miniscule few points and this was not KK's best 15 either !
It was pretty obvious from early on that there was a difference in speed of releasing the sliotar and general power from KK which left us reaching a lot of the time .
The freezing conditions were the same for both teams and the ref let the game flow and there was very few soft and technical frees.
There was a noticeable difference and the score tells one that clearly.
Big task ahead for the panel to get motivated again for Wexford on Sunday in Wexford Park for 1
30 ! Hopefully this will not be another rout and that we can then get ready for the league with confidence.
All present last night agree that we have a mountain to climb.

As I feared we got a hiding last night & were well off the pace. Having only recently returned from holiday I was expecting a big loss but this was worse than I thought. Hopefully we can be more competitive at the weekend & then get to work on the training ground for the league & Championship. Big step up needed but it's early days yet

Bought it on clubber. The losing of the game was the first 12 minutes or so when you probably had more shots than Kilkenny yet were still 11 or 12 points behind. Shooting was absolutely terrible. They then went on a roll, heads dropped, along with the ball. The short game you were playing needs good handling and 100% focus as a bare minimum. I don't imagine you will be as bad again on Sunday. Plus also you now have your first game under your belts, which we don't yet. And we will have a team pretty much made up of younger and fringe players also, with maybe 4 or 5 more experienced lads to provide a bit of leadership I'd imagine.

I heard there is a meeting in Fenagh tonight to discuss "what to do with the JP Money" and that it was rumoured that each club will get approx 19k

Whats there to discuss? The money is to be divided to the clubs evenly. If my maths are correct there should be 22k going to every club. Why are the CC taking 3k from each club?

I had heard they were going to ask the clubs to give back some of it but hadn't heard a figure

I think it is important not to jump to conclusions !
Of course the money is going to the clubs.
I heard that the county board is trying to ensure that the money is given out exactly to the instructions pertaining to the instructions accompanying the 'gift- from JP and his family.
That means that some clubs will receive different amounts depending upon if they have a ladies football and or camogie or both.
I don't think the county board can or will keep any of the money as it does not belong to them - it belongs to the clubs.
I am not going to guess as to why there is a meeting called for tonight.

I think it would be a far better idea to let county board have it for the sole purpose of building proper facilities at the centre of excellence. 20 k per club is neither here nor there.

What if you are Asca for example.

The 22k is the biggest amount of money that club has EVER received. They have been paying levies to the CC for stands and Training Centres for over 25 years and have NEVER received a single penny in support from the County Board back

If they take a single penny from any club they are a disgrace!

They haven't got a single asset in their own name after 25 years. Speaks volumes for them. What are they going to do with 20gs.,buy a pitch?

It's been hard for Asca to build a strong club, when another entity further up the road has consistently poached their best juvenile players.

Name clubs in Carlow that have had any major development work in the past 10 years?

I would imagine almost all of Asca fundraising goes into County Board coffers.

22k would be a game changer and would allow them to grow, debt free too unlike the poaching club just up the road.
