I don't have access to his medical progress but I suspect it would be nothing short of reckless to give Patrick minutes today and would imagine that it's a tactical bluff of a level only comparable to a game of peek-a-boo with an infant.

Fair play to Donegal today. Gave it a fantastic shot. Patton unbelievable with the kick outs. Gallen brilliant. Thank God they got the goal at end, they weren't 8 points worse. If they play like that vs Monaghan, they have a shot. Big Hugh gave Conor glass plenty attention. Only really disappointing thing was Jamie Brennan at 11, it didn't work. If he plays on that Donegal team it has to be corner forward.

Good performance today we should keep O Rourke and Bradley in charge for next 2 seasons definte improvement

Thanks lads for restoring a bit of pride in the jersey today, a pity Sean Patton didn't hit the long range frees and 45 Ciarán missed. It was great to have Paddy back, if we had Ryan and Langan we'd be hard beat. The only disappointing thing for me was we left a few scores behind us in the first 10mins. I'd rest guys the next day and take a chance on the knockout game against a 2nd place team.

Mac Cumhaill Pairc in bad shape at the minute, too many games on it, hopefully they can get a new pitch sorted somehow to take some of the games off it.

New on the threads here. Big improvement in today's performance. Left 4/5 scores out there today. Tiredness really affected the players towards the end which allows Derry backs to tear through which means we need more pace in the side. Nice to see deep lying forwards being used which creates more space up front. Getting 1-15 was good but our defense had got holes in it. Jamie Brennan has been poor. Not good enough.

McFadden had a shocker against Glass. Yeah he pushed and shoved him a bit when the ball wasn't near them but whenever Glass went and got involved in play, McFadden was nowhere near him. Running about 10 yards behind him. Glass had a big influence on the game. Mcfadden is miles off the level of a top inter County player

This is your first post and you straight away single out one player who in your opinion isn't good enough. Well done. Great start for you.

Decent enough showing given all that's gone one. I've read a few times here about no decent underage teams coming through in Donegal yet we had a under 20 team narrowly beaten in an Ulster final in 2020 that were missing the injured Oisin Gallen and Conor O'Donnell. The talent is there in Donegal just need the right management in place. The options around midfield, the half back and forward lines in the county is incredible. People saying no defenders but much of that can be coached with the right management and mindset. While this year might be a write off the experience gained by the likes of Curran and McColgan will really stand to them and add in a fully fit Stephen McMenamin Donegal will not be lacking defensively. Gallen today showed what we've been missing just hope he stays fit. A few lads should be nowhere near the starting 15 and haven't been for a while adding to the need for strong leadership. I just hope the results of this review are out soon and the necessary steps are taken to get rid of who needs to be gone and the right foundations are put in place.

On a side note got to my first underage championship game for a variety of reasons post COVID a couple of weeks ago when Donegal beat Cavan. I have to agree with some of the consensus regarding the management. Only when the shackles were thrown off did they show their potential but firmly put back on against Derry when yet again losing another close game under this management when fear was to the fore and victory was never close despite the narrow losing margins.

Anytime I seen him he had his hands on knees, crouched over in an L shape as usual. How are they justifying playing lads with level of fitness. It's Championship, not the McKenna Cup! I wonder how long a division 4 team would keep playing a forward with Brennan's scoring returns. Not as long as we have, I don't think.

Contrasting approaches to how the teams warmed up for the game, Donegal opted for two warm ups, the first commencing at 3:15pm. Derry didn't take to the field to 25mins later. Could this have made the difference late in the game? on such a warm day surely maintaining energy and spending less time in the sun would have made more sense.

Derry probably did their first warm up out on the training pitch. No way they would have started a game with only that short warmup done

Sorry I haven't followed some unwritten protocol regarding first posts. Overall, thought that the team improved today but I can only give an opinion on what I see. Others have highlighted the poor showing of certain players. I'm not basing my assessment on Jamie based on this one game. I hope that in time I'm proved wrong.

It was an encouraging display considering what has gone on this last few months, we are well capable of beating Monaghan to secure second spot in the group.

Derry did their 1st warm up on back pitch

It's a bit early to make that call. Wait and see what happens in next two matches but definite improvement.

No point in dwelling on players that don't want to play for the county team.......

Fitness and a lack of squad depth definitely told in the end yesterday.

Of the players you mentioned, I would realistically hope to see McFadden-Ferry, R McHugh, Mogan, Morrison, Doherty, Langan, McGettigan & the two O'Donnells back in the fold.

It's doubtful we'll see the others you mention for one reason or another.

No harm to O'Rourke & Bradley, but I would expect to see a new management team in place, hopefully ahead of club championship. Get a structure, squad & conditioning program in place for the winter. Hit the ground running in the league 2024 with promotion back to Div 1 the immediate target.

Absolutely achievable with the potential squad we could have in place. Just need the right foundations for our talented footballers to flourish. BTW I'm by no means saying we're All Ireland contenders or anything. But let's at least ensure we're giving our lads the best possible platform to succeed.
