While I certainly won't be looking to book the Croke Park Hotel for the last weekend of July just yet, the victory over Clare has given us a small bit of encouragement. Beating Derry is a tall order, but a win over Monaghan is achievable I think. Langan is probably gone for the rest of the campaign but is there any word on Mogan and McBrearty? They would be two huge additions to this relatively inexperienced team.

According to Paddy Bradley Langan is out for the season.McBrearty might make Monaghan game and there is some hope that Mogan could play some part this year.Funny enough I think we have a better chance of beating Derry than Monaghan,we just never seem to be able to beat Monaghan. It would be important to at least get second in the group as you would have a home game against a third placed team.

Replying To greenfan:  "I would like to have a minor management that would allow players to play with a bit more freedom and express themselves. Not a management that leaves skillful players out of the team in favour of hard working more limited players. Plenty examples of that in recent years, good players who were left out, now thriving in club senior teams while the players picked ahead of them are nowhere to be seen."
Ok, well I can understand your frustrations with that, I know its frustrating to see creative talented players not getting selected in favour of the more physical work horse type. However it does kind of work, I've seen Tyrone under Mickey Harte do this and Donegal under Jim McGuinness.

In fairness I thought Barrett did a decent job with the Minors this year, I think Derry are on a different level at this time, but ultimately success at senior level is based on who collectively has the best 15 between ages 17 and 33-34, and Donegal have always did better in this regard.

Tickets bought... I'll be in Rorysboys good books!! reckon we could be outnumbered by away fans sadly. Need to play like we did in the second half against Clare for the full 70 to be in with any sniff.....

The big game is this weekend though in croker. Should be a close one but hopefully the hurlers can do it. Wife's from Wicklow so will never hear the end if they don't! Best of luck to Lancashire too. Lived there for a few years so be great if they could bring back some silverware

They were minors in the first year of the academy (2021) but didn't 'come through' the academy. They were coached by the existing, current minor management team. There was no academy when the 2004's were u14, u15 or u16

The academy only started in 2021 and was only going for over a year before it blew up. At most players would have had a year and a half and a lot of that would have been spent having trials. I think it would need to be running for 4/5 years properly before it could be judged.

There were county development teams for U14,15,16 and minor for 2004's. All under the guidance of Karl.

Controversial Opinion: I'd take Mickey Harte.

Interesting to see both Mark McHugh & Odhran MacNiallais playing in goals for their clubs last night. Surely a short term thing, I doubt we'll see either in nets when Championship rolls around.

But I wonder if clubs will start thinking along those lines. Rafferty (Armagh) and Lynch (Derry) are probably the two most high profile players currently operating in goals & both have contributed scores from play in Ulster.

I have to admit I'm a bit old school & would prefer my goal keeper to be an actual goal keeper.

Derry game has become more interesting in light of our win and their draw last night. Can we actually beat them?

Of course we can. Derry are no world beaters, they've fallen over the line in a couple ulster finals.

Still feel they're playing at a higher intensity than we are and are tactically astute. Battle hardened despite their close games of late against better opposition than we have beaten. But yeah, not maybe the foregone conclusion I felt it was 3 weeks ago. Maybe the confidence after the Clare win will drive us to another level, the extra week of rest over Derry is no harm either. Hopefully Ballybofey is buzzing!

Yeah, 3 weeks ago I'd have said no way we could beat Derry. Hoping the Clare game was a turning point and not a false dawn.. hopefully the people come out to support the team.

Not a hope against Derry. The only blessing is Rory is gone. Derry will win by 8 plus unfortunately. They will lock down Gallan, Brennan and Thompson..that's our three scorers.
You can't lose the players we have and seriously think we have a chance against a team we couldn't beat with our strongest panel the year previously. If Mogan and Langan were even fit, we'd have a punchers chance.

We'll keep the game tight. Try and Slow it down. Will be the biggest victory Donegal have produced since our last Ulster championship win if we can get over the line in the scenario we find ourselves.

Let's hope for a good turnout

I believe Gaoth Dobhair had no other option for goals? Odhran is carrying an injury I was told.

Not sure on Mark.

We can't be getting ahead of ourselves because we best Clare. Derry still are the top team Ulster

It's hard to see the current frail Donegal squad getting over a Derry team fancied as outsiders for the All Ireland since last season, I think a full strength Donegal squad could beat this Derry team and anyone else in Ulster, but its a bridge too far for this team. Great improvement against Clare, but I just can't see us staying with Derry over 70 minutes.

However the win against Clare definitely gave me hope, It would probably be the shock of the year if we manage to win against Derry or Monaghan and make the last 12 or 8 of the All Ireland.

This Wednesday was the date originally provided for the report of investigation into Donegal academy to be released.

Any idea what time that will be released?
