Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be the only angle. What I do not understand is that given the service lacey, kavanagh, mcguinness and other ex county men with good service who are among the 40 coaches to walk out, have to gain from this, I don't believe they are gaining anything. What we do have is person's at county board level who would appear to have Ego's that need to be maintained. Clubs apparently being called into meeting tomorrow night with a single item agenda, the academy. My question, apart from lacey, where are we going to get 40 replacement coaches of the standard required to replace the 40 that have left, because make no mistake, none of the 40 will be returning? The incoming chair has been handed a ****show to be managed by the last one, for that he has my sympathy, but he needs to find a resolution now and quickly. totalrecall (Leitrim) - Posts: 1060 - 22/03/2023 11:21:03 2465707 Link 1 |
Sad to read of all this turmoil in a proud football county that has given us so much enjoyment over the years. Crumbs of hope in points gained against last year's All Ireland finalists, albeit under strength and being competitive in Armagh and first half in Clones. Think Donegal are in 'catch up mode' in terms of training and preparation but with 4-5 weeks gap before championship begins and some injuries clearing up they could spring a few surprises before the Summer is out. Hoping a pathway towards a resolution emerges soon beginning with this week's emergency meeting. Curlew66 (Roscommon) - Posts: 604 - 22/03/2023 12:50:41 2465746 Link 1 |
With the new championship structure, where it doesn't matter how good or bad we are between now and then, I wonder is there merit in training like dogs now, and tailoring our training plans so that we peak in late June, and therefore writing of the Ulster Championship campaign? Armagh certainly benefitted last year with the 5 or 6 weeks training they put in after we beat them in Ballybofey. They were a different animal in Clones.

Paddy may have been led up the creek, we'll never know. Onus on the clubs to demand the county executive, and their appointed backroom team stand down immediately. SurelyToGod (Donegal) - Posts: 452 - 22/03/2023 15:19:19 2465819 Link 0 |

As a man of principle I would say he would have to disassociate himself from the alleged management appointment and backroom appointments carry on.I would surmise he had very little to do with any of it and just wanted to realise his ambition to manage Donegal. It would have been impossible to his job with all the noise going round. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say.It is hard not to feel sorry for the man. gunman (Donegal) - Posts: 1149 - 22/03/2023 15:22:53 2465823 Link 0 |

We need an interim management to finish the year. Get bonner Murphy.Mc Guinness and Lacey together to try and get things up and running. Times short but no manager will come in at this stage. Disappointing for paddy he was given the short straw. Poor man. rorysboys (Donegal) - Posts: 2615 - 22/03/2023 15:45:24 2465834 Link 1 |
Unreal stuff, we are now at the bottom of the barrel. I also feel sorry for Paddy Carr, a decent man from what I understand and genuine. But the few people behind the scenes who drove his appointment, including the genius who drove Lacey away really need to get as far away from the upper echelons of Donegal football as humanly possible. They've done serious damage to the county. Donegal_abroad (Donegal) - Posts: 1409 - 22/03/2023 15:46:32 2465836 Link 2 |

No word of his backroom team going . I'd be worried now that people who made it from the selection panel to the management team might manage to get themselves into the top job. greenfan (Donegal) - Posts: 633 - 22/03/2023 15:56:50 2465841 Link 1 |
