yes, i would say he done well with clonguish a team on the decline for a number of years to get them that far and put up a fight to the great mullinlaghta team was a job well done. id be happy to see him get the job

He trained them, Collie Clarke was the manager. Dermot McCabe was never the manager of Clonguish.

Lads I can assure you all that Dermot McCabe never managed Clonguish. He trained them for 1 or 2 years the time they were managed by Collie Clarke. Collies homeplace isnt too far from me in Drumlish and I used slag him how McCabe was after his job as the main man. It never happened.

You're just being pedantic now.

I'm just telling you that Dermot McCabe never managed Clonguish. What is the problem with that???? You are probably one of these people who can never admit when they get it wrong.

Mullinalaghta to win handy against Mostrim, unless they lose a man in which case they will struggle against the faster team but should still win through experience. In other words, Mostrim haven't a hope. They are a good team with a few good wins, but consistency might undo them. You need to show up in every game which they have so far, but unless they are excellent, they will find themselves in a game where they don't all show up. I would love to be wrong, it would be a colourful difference to the norm. Both teams have a fiery sideline which could also make things interesting. Killashee should beat Ballymahon, but i wouldnt rule out Ballymahon completely, they can turn it on. If Fitzmaurice is on form he can be a danger. Unfortunately he can sulk and be a danger to his own team too. Diffley also has a lot to offer and could be key, I just think Killashee look more balanced and together as a team. Haven't seen Ballymore or Legan this year, or last. Going on a hunch, I will opt for Legan. They have had a sterner test in the semi-final. There is an interesting Div 1 game between Colmcille and Killoe, colmcille have a good chance of denying Killoe a league title there.

Mullinalaghta will win Senior......

Intermediate will be tight but see Killashee winning that.

Ballymore for the junior by about 6 points.

forgot about division1, does the division 1 really mean anything now? killoe are only top and likely to win it because they beat mullinlaghta in a game without county players.

Typical slashers mindset. Good clubs go out to win what they can and any silverware is greatly appreciated at any level. The reason they are top is because they are unbeaten in the league but have a very tough game to play.

... in a game BOTH clubs had to play without their county players!!!

Colmcille will be a big test on Sunday and Clonguish will be no pushover either, so the division title is def not a done deal, but it is Killoe's to lose.

Mullinalaghta should win easy enough on Sunday, but as a neutral would love to see Mostrim do it. Killashee beat Ballymahon by 10 points in the group stage, so should be on track for back-to-back and promotion to senior. Dunno on Junior - have no insight into either side. Hopefully a big crowd on Sunday to give a bit of atmosphere. Wonder will streaming keep some at home this year?

It probably doesn't mean a lot to most fairweather supporters until the club wins, but for active club members and particularly players it still means a lot. Ask anyone who won one. Championship is obviously the main deal, followed by the Leader Cup, with Div 1 title close behind that in order of prestige in most clubs eyes.
Anyway, back to the main event, can anyone see Mostrim causing an upset?

it definitely used to be dont get me wrong but when its decided on a game without county players its not the league of old. i know killoe were without there county men too but it is a much bigger hit for mullinlaghta. mostrim have shocked everyone so far this year so what is one more shock? think its a bridge too far for them though. mullinlaghta just have too much experience here to get caught especially after the hurt of the last two years

I'd agree with all of that. Means a great deal to players for sure. Having a cup for the winner of the Division 1 is a fairly modern concept - I think it has only been around as a title since 1989. The Leader Cup is the league title in Longford (I think it has been around since the 30's), and as you say the Division 1 title is just behind that.

As for an upset, never rule it out. Mostrim had an impressive Championship campaign and are worthy finalists. When you get to the big day anything can happen. It would take a massive effort on their part against red hot favourites, but why not! No disrespect to Mullinalaghta who are a great team, but I think everyone else in Longford will be shouting for Mostrim on Sunday. The public loves an underdog story, as Mullinalaghta know very well. Hope it is a cracker!

Fitzmaurice is suspended.

Sick to see Mullinalaghta win. They'll be as hard listened to as the Killoes for the next 12 months.

Congrats to Mullinalaghta on their fantastic win. They are role models for all the rest of us in other clubs. They are the only club from Longford to reach a Leinster final and win it. They will be strong contenders for Leinster again and good luck to them.
