There definitely could've been a couple more black cards handed out to Mullinalaghta players but Quinn continuously carried the ball into the tackle. The game was really decided on a moment of magic by James McGivney. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 25/10/2021 11:41:00 2387263 Link 0 |
Attacks on Quinn ? What absolute nonsense. Next time you are in Longford Town i think there is a Specsavers on Ballymahon St. Do you well to get your eyes tested.

Think you should put Quinn on the protected species list just like the red squirrel and corncrake- then nobody could leave a finger on him

It looks like killoe bought into there own hype. I got a screenshot this morning of an interview from a few weeks ago where a player was talking about playing club football in December which implys an all Ireland final. Im sure this made it too a few mullinlaghta and Mostrim phones too. You think about the next game only in this sport otherwise you get caught slasher9 (Longford) - Posts: 233 - 25/10/2021 14:14:04 2387298 Link 0 |
Ah, to be fair if Mostrim or Mullinalaghta were to get beyond the first round in Leinster the Leader Cup might be pushed back into December - I'm sure that's what he meant. Some story for Mostrim to come back from the unmerciful hammering they got in the 2020 semi-final they got two months ago to be 60 minutes away from a county title. Mullinalaghta surely shouldn't underestimate them in the way that first Kiloe and then Colmcille did. TurnipAyter (Longford) - Posts: 148 - 25/10/2021 15:27:03 2387307 Link 1 |
Thís must be a personal grudge, all clubs have this in small amounts, but most supporters are the same and can get carried away when successful. We all think our clubs are the best, and when that is close to the truth, we tend to talk our clubs up rather than down. Some people just hate to see others being successful. I tend to think winners are always deserving, supporters should enjoy that, most do, and most are grateful for the wins. Tha games went nearly exactly as I had thought they might. I wasn't expecting Mostrim to blow away Colmcille so early, they had more than enough done by half time that the mountain was too much for Colmcille to climb. Mostrim are playing excellent football to watch. That won't alway win unfortunately. Mullinalaghta were far stronger than Killoe physically. A few key injuries to Killoe didn't help. Quinn did tend to carry into tackles way too much, and Mullinalaghta done what they had to, stop him. Yellow cards are acceptable, they took the card, conceded the free, and ultimately stopped the attack. Killoe were niave to that, and I don't know how. They knew that was coming but seemed unable to do anything more, it was a case of their race was ran, their time was up. In fairness to them they have been excellent this last decade. botheyesclosed (Longford) - Posts: 115 - 25/10/2021 20:07:07 2387337 Link 1 |
You need better radar if that is what you think was the thought process of any clubs in the semi finals. Anyone from Killoe I spoke to was very unsure and wary going into the Mullinalaghta game. Your predictions for Killoe games on here has not been stellar, and now that they lost you are throwing anecdotal gossip about as if it reflects a clubs mindset. Anyone might start to think you are operating in bad faith or with bias Slasher9. Lads will absolutely be playing football in December but it will be because the Leader cup will still be going on in December and Killoe could top Division 1 if they win their last three remaining games in ACFL so they will definitely be involved in December, as will Mullinalaghta, Colmcille and TBC. Also, 'a player' doesn't make a club, just as Abbeylara doing the 'men vs boys' on social media before their game with Killoe didn't represent the views of all Abbey fans. Mullinalaghta and Mostrim won because they were the better teams on the day. Good luck to them. Nobody credibly believed that Killoe were a sure thing for 2021 title much less anything beyond - That is just contrived nonsense based on anecdotal gossip spread to elicit an 'anti' reaction. We would all be better off with less of that stuff. Looking forward to a competitive and exciting final (hopefully).

It's been a great decade for Killoe but there must also be a tinge of regret as it could have been even more. Darragh Bennet, P.McCormack, Simon and Paddy Kiernan, Daniel Keogh, Paddy Thompson etc all strong physical players have missed a lot of football in their prime either through personal choice or injury. The turnover in players has been massive for the club and on Sunday this really showed as Mullinalaghta were just too physically strong for the younger lads. Mullinalaghta probably have another year left in them and after that it really will be wide open in Longford. catchturnscore (Longford) - Posts: 149 - 26/10/2021 18:17:19 2387498 Link 0 |
Not sure you can call something which is printed in black and white as anecdotal gossip. The previous commenter was tongue in cheek when saying it was about the leader cup and your suggesting that is what its about u must think everyone is very gullible! I get predictions wrong we all do and then review games afterwards to see where it was wrong and i just think that getting carried away was perhaps a factor. No bad faith or bias with me

I have to agree with a previous poster (Slasher) I think it was. I was talking to a good friend of mine who is a down to earth Killoe fan. He was saying he was worried about the majority of what was going on inside the Killoe camp. He said talk was of matching and beating the 4 in a row that Clonguish hold and also planning out their schedule for a Leinster run this year. According to one player the championship was already sorted as there was no one to be worried about. That's not what you want to be hearing. He was right to be worried. About 5 mins after the game last weekend he messaged me to say he was right to be worried. Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1236 - 27/10/2021 10:03:16 2387541 Link 0 |
What's going on with the Senior management in Longford. Waiting to announce Dermott Mc Cabe once Cavan club championship is over is what I hear but I think it's a bad move if it's true. Anyone shine any light on the situation. williesboy (Leitrim) - Posts: 341 - 27/10/2021 18:43:37 2387649 Link 0 |
Board is split between him and a local lad. Apparently huge split in who they want in. Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1236 - 28/10/2021 09:23:35 2387667 Link 0 |

Why would it be a bad move, he has more management experience than Andy Moran

He didn't do great with Clonguish.

They reached the Semis in 18 under McCabe, beaten by Mullinalghta who done the 3 In a row.
