Talking about killoe and the midfield… what about that paddy thompson lad.. heard he played very well for the intermediates… id imagine he would be a great addition at this stage.

3 of the 4 quarter finals were tight and could have went any way. Killoe just done enough to get part Abbey. Smyth was running the show until Liam Hughes came on and handled him well. Killoe need to keep him fit. Mullinalaghta didn't need to get out of second gear against Carrickedmond, they seemed happy enough just to have avoided the relegation battles. Dromard snatched defeat from certain victory in a game that may stand to Mostrim. They might have enough in the tank for Colmcille once they keep everyone injury free. Colmcille had enough done to see off Granard who gave themselves just too much to do. The comeback was just too late even though Gallagher nearly dragged them level. I can see Mostrim causing an upset against Colmcille in what will be the tighter game of 2. Killoe are running on empty and lacking their normal confidence for some reason and I cant see them giving any trouble to Mullinalaghta who are starting to find some form from their 3 in a row team.

Replying To Ward30:  "I don't know what you were watching but Mullinlagtha put in a professional performance and Killoe should be very wary. Mickey Graham/Ciarán Fox will have a plan for Mimmnagh who is arguably Killoes best player."
i was watching the match where mullinlaghta were at about less then a 50% conversion rate of there chances against very poor opposition. mullinlaghta need to be taking every chance they can get if they are to have a hope against killoe. i cant believe all the predictions here fancying mullinalaghta. they lack pace and killoe are full of running.

A team that won a Leinster not that long ago deserves respect. I'm not saying they'll beat Killoe all I'm saying is Killoe will need to up their game considerably to beat Mullinlagtha.

When is the Clonguish/FM Gales match on. Hard to know how it will go.
Clonguish lead by 5 in extra time and lost.
All must not be well in the Clonguish camp.
The Gales on the other hand only need to win one match to survive. Could the decider be it.

From what I heard Clonguish were cruising and for some reason that the ref only knows about, he reduced Clonguish to 14 players. Slashers scored a goal straight after and had a very strong wind to reel them in. Still expect Clonguish to win but it won't be easy with it been a local derby.

yes agree, think drumlish destined for the drop here but as said before when it comes to relegation nothing will shock me.

the main events calling it now - Killoe by 4-5 points, colmcille by 3-4 to set up a unique final pair

3 different winners in the last 3 seasons (even though there's just 3 Senior clubs). Slashers dominant at underage so could drive on from here now?

Replying To B&G:  "Any word on the hurling and football team managers. No information on potential candidates. On the football side they did state that they were in no hurry to make an appointment which means that county championship will be finished before an appointment is made.
At least they came out with some sort of a timeframe.
No such communication or clarification on a hurling appointment.
Do we assume that any potential appointments will come from within the county.
In football we done well to attain our D3 status we will need to build on this.
While in hurling we are in the bottom rung of ladder (D3B & Lory Meagher Cup). This will be a crucial appointment if we are to return to Div 3A & Nicky Rackard cup."
Adrian Moran from Westmeath ratified as new hurling manager.

Mullinalaghta & Mostrim have never met in a County Final before, nor have Killoe & Colmcille. I think 1952 was the last time Mullinalaghta played Colmcille in the decider and 1988 was last time Killoe played Mostrim in the final.

its really sad to see that - just 3 clubs. what can be done to encourage other clubs to give hurling a go? would the appetite even be there. i saw recently kenagh set up underage hurling and won a title, fair play to them

Kenagh might be the only other club (out from the 3) with hurling going on. I've never understood why it didn't take off at school level throughout the county and build it up that way. I guess it is a question of investment and available hurling heads to coach. There are a dedicated few who try hard on that front, just not enough supports to have it in all schools and clubs I guess? Back in the 80's there was hurling teams in Rathcline, Ballymahon and Bunlahy too, and in the distant past there was championship winning teams in Granard and Killoe.

Yeah, well done to Kenagh's U12 hurlers! I think they've only 12 players at that age group, however, so it's a numbers game for them going forward. I'd love to see hurling being developed in Killoe, Ballymahon & Granard, for instance.

As far as I know, there's currently no camógie in the county so it's a major challenge to create & then sustain the small ball game in Longford.

Yes I remember underage hurling teams back then also in Kenagh, Cashel & Abbeylara. Schools-wise, a lot of lip service is paid to indoor hurling which IMO is largely a waste of time & resources. Many of the schools think they've "done their bit" then & don't compete in the outdoor blitzes/competitions.

two red hot favourites blow it. got carried away with Killoe and forgetting they freeze against mullinlaghta. Men against boys in that second half. What a top class performance from the Mostrim men, where has this come from. Makes for a very interesting final and I'm not going to call

Thank you Mullinlagtha for saving us from the 3 in the row gloats from the most insufferable supporters in the county. Best of luck to Mostrim in the final. From a team that couldn't field a team to a county final is some achievement.

Hard to believe the record stands at 4 in a row and that the record is standing for 55 years. And that was back when it was straight knock out and no safety net.

Fair play to Mostrim, well worth the win and will give it a lash in the final. Mullinalaghta definitely the better side in the second game, but the physical attacks on Mickey Quinn should not have gone unpunished. We will probably see more of those tactics in the final. It proves successful for Mullinalaghta but it won't win them many fans as a result. Killoe left wanting in too many areas of the field. As for someone above claiming Killoe supporters are unbearable, I have experienced (and I bet most on here has too) unbearable supporters in most clubs in the county down the years when clubs are in a successful phase. No club is immune from those elements and happily it doesn't define any club either. It reads as though the writer above has a bone to pick or a personal gripe they want to air. I don't have much time for that sort of dross. Its a football game, judge the play and the tactics, leave the personal crap at home.

Should be an eventful final. Looking forward to it.

Also fair play to Clonguish for surviving the drop. I was not predicting such an emphatic win. The Gaels clearly a much weaker side when it came down to it.

attacks? Come away out of that, that was good hardy physical stuff and Killoe couldn't handle it. No dirt, the way it needs to be played for any team to be succesful. There is a reason they won a Leinster and three in a row
